Exciting to see all of the learnings and connections made by our Director of Implementation & Partnerships, Tina Noohi, at #MHPA24!
Had the best time at #MHPA24 meeting with #Medicaid managed care organizations and hearing about their pain points. The conference reminded me just how exciting a time it is to be innovating in Medicaid alongside such fantastic health plan partners like AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana. I was especially inspired learning about the creative collaboration between MCOs and health tech startups - spending time with Nikita Singareddy at Fortuna Health, Sarenka Smith at Scene Health, and Brett M. Hickman at Waymark - was the perfect showcase of companies dedicated to making healthcare better for our most vulnerable populations. I'm so excited for the future of Nest Health and the work we are doing to bring back the house call - fighting to remove all the pain points families face in accessing care. Thanks to Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA) for such a lovely conference! #Medicaid #PopulationHealth #Startups #HealthTech

This #WomensEqualityDay, we're grateful to our founders Rebekah E. Gee MD MPH and Rebecca Kavoussi for building a solution and team to lift up women, families, and communities. Health happens at home. Health happens in families. Women's equality and health begins with supporting families and communities. At Nest Health, we understand just how deeply social drivers like housing & food insecurity and economic instability impact a family's health and well-being. On this Women’s Equality Day and every day, the Nest team is dedicated to addressing critical care gaps by building a healthcare model that prioritizes women and families.

Women's equality and health begins with empowering families and communities. On this #WomensEqualityDay, I'm thrilled to see the focus on the care economy in this presidential election. At Nest Health, we understand just how deeply social drivers like housing & food insecurity and economic instability impact a family's health and well-being. Health happens at home. Health happens in families. By addressing foundational needs and providing essential support, families can experience better health outcomes, including reduced rates of chronic stress, improved mental health, and enhanced quality of life. Through her recent economic policy speech and in her nomination acceptance speech, Candidate Harris shone a spotlight on critical issues in the #CareEconomy — specifically paid family leave and affordable childcare. Harris emphasizes how paid family leave and affordable childcare are essential for building a fair and supportive society. By advocating for #PaidFamilyLeave, we can ensure that every worker can take the time they need to care for their families without sacrificing their livelihood. The focus on affordable childcare, specifically with her proposed increased child tax credit, can help relieve the financial strain on families and improve access to quality care for children. It’s a step toward creating a more balanced and equitable environment for parents. Providing families with the essential resources they need should be a nonpartisan priority. I'm looking forward to seeing the policy proposals that can make better health outcomes possible for millions of American families.

“Why exactly is it that they don’t trust women?” A powerful question that VP Harris asked at the #DNC yesterday evening. Maternal and family health are taking the main stage in this presidential election. VP Harris and her campaign team have anchored their message on women’s rights, family and child health, and reproductive rights more than any candidate in history. The American health system is failing women…failing families. We’re treating individuals not as a family unit, not as whole people whose mental health, nutritional, and social health are inextricably linked, but as fragmented individuals and body parts. This broken system is leading to terrible health outcomes. The state of maternal, women and family health in Louisiana is abysmal. We rank 49 out of 50 on maternal mortality, morbidity, and in child well-being. We're also one of the 14 states where abortion has been criminalized – changing pregnancy care and worsening maternal care in the state. In March of this year Lift Louisiana released a report on the impacts of the overturn on women in our state: o Unnecessary C-section rates are rising o There’s a decline of prenatal visits – delaying routine care o Miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy treatment is delayed by physicians who fear governmental retaliation Families face so many barriers to take care of their healthcare – they can’t get time off of work, they don’t have a car, they’re single parents juggling multiple jobs…Nest Health is bringing comprehensive care directly to them in their home. We bring primary care, mental health care, check ups, sick visits, prenatal support and more directly to the comfort of their home and virtually, breaking down those barriers to care. There are solutions, solutions like Nest can no longer be overlooked. Our country’s families are on the line. This must be a part of the national conversation.

#LifeintheNest: Each month, the full Nest Health team gathers in our "Parliament" meetings to talk strategy, share recent learnings and challenges, and to recognize our monthly "Featured Feather." The Featured Feather award goes to someone who is living out the Nest values of Collaboration, Humility, Authenticity, Resourcefulness, and Joy (CHARJ) day in and day out. Last month, we celebrated our Featured Feather, Manager, Coding, CDI, and Billing, Donna Watson. Donna ensures our clinical team delivers excellent care to Nest families by meeting all compliance requirements and accurately documenting our time with them. She provides all of the information that our health plan partners need so that they can record the value we drive through exceptional patient care. Donna has been instrumental in developing world-class policies and identifying operational needs as we continue to grow and onboard new payer partners. Congratulations, Donna! We're so lucky to have you in the Nest.

We're so proud to share that #TulaneVentures' first investment is to Nest Health. We're honored to be partnered with such an innovative and community-centered organization to scale excellent care to more families across Louisiana, together. We shared the news last week at an event hosted by the Tulane University Innovation Institute where our Founder & CEO Rebekah E. Gee MD MPH, alongside two of her daughters, introduced a showing of the film "Show Her the Money." The event provided female founders and entrepreneurs the space to talk about challenges they face in fundraising and building businesses. With only 2% of venture capital going to women, the challenges are vast. Tulane's belief and investment in our female-founded and led organization is a sign that the landscape is changing.
