Yet another bypass CGNAT question (I'm sorry) by /u/jackson0597 via Plex ([Global] oracle cloud) URL: https://ift.tt/pA2JGN5 As an IT student, I'm ashamed to say that this has been a tough topic to digest for me. Networking hasn't been my strong point but I've been learning a lot thanks to all the previous articles here. Much appreciated if you could provide me some knowledge on setting up my Plex media server! I used to have ngrok set up with Plex media server on the same laptop to watch together with my spouse who lives over 9000 miles. All she had to do was to connect to the website provided by ngrok (less the SSL certificate as I didn't know how to set that up). But now I have another dedicated laptop, so I wanted to turn that into a server to reduce overheat and buffering issues from the laptop I'm using to stream. The CGNAT issue unfortunately was back again and I wanted to test out other solutions. IPv6: My ISP doesn't support IPv6 which is an absolute disappointment. Get a static IP from ISP: This costs a $51 activation fee which they were very adamant on refusing my fee-waiver request no matter how poor I describe myself (which I am, since I'm still a student haha) Tailscale: This seems to be a good option, but what I read from previous articles is that all other devices requires a client, and it seemed like a hassle for my spouse. But I'm still considering this path as one of the last options. VPS, with wireguard server, then connecting to the VPN: I tried using Oracle Cloud VM but all the free instances are taken up, which sucks but I am very interested to give this a try if it is the best option to go. Reverse proxy: I've been hearing alot of this term but never really understood it. Could someone provide me an ELI5 perhaps? VPN with port-forwarding: My family VPN (surfshark) doesn't allow port-forwarding. Honestly, just a series of unfortunate events at this moment but I'm not giving up. What sort of solution would you go with if it's just connecting 2 users (me and my spouse) over long distances? TLDR: I suck at networking and I want to watch together with my spouse who lives in the west while I'm in asia. Need to bypass CGNAT. Please help :'( submitted by /u/jackson0597 [link] [comments]

Life is better with community. I've had this idea of "virtual classrooms" for a while but wasn't sure what the best format was, but I recently spun up a Discord server! We spun it up as a learning platform, helping people who want to get certified in various technologies. We're starting with a live weekly Cisco #CCNA study/video session(s) on April 1st! Not interested in the actual cert? Totally fine, come hang out! Are you an SME in a particular technology? Interested in "teaching"? Let me know! I'd love to have this server branch out into things outside of my expertise. Whether you're diving into networking, coding, cybersecurity, cloud computing, or data science, our community offers: 🔍 Expert guidance from experienced professionals 📚 Comprehensive study resources and materials 🤝 Collaborative study sessions and mentorship opportunities 🎉 Engaging events, workshops, and webinars We believe in the power of community to drive learning and growth. Surround yourself with supportive peers who share your enthusiasm for tech and are dedicated to helping each other succeed! https://lnkd.in/eFfHfDiT #Discord #Tech #Cisco #Learning #TechCommunity #Technology #Networking #Coding #Cybersecurity #CloudComputing #DataScience #TechLearning #Community #TechNetworking #CareerGrowth

On 28 April 2001, the Bergen Linux user group implemented IPoAC: Internet Protocol traffic by birds such as homing pigeons. Nine packets of data, with a response time ranging from 3,000 seconds to over 6,000 seconds. Thus, this technology suffers from high latency. Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin: High-tech research center is relying on grommunio Thanks to the cooperation with T-Systems International's Open Source Collaboration, grommunio is announcing another representative customer: The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), known for its high-tech research, has been relying on the open source groupware from Vienna for several months now. Struck by a serious cyberattack in mid-2023, with computer systems at HZB unavailable for months, a decision had to be made. HZB decided to take the necessary steps and switch away from Microsoft Exchange to grommunio – with complete success, as reported in a Telekom press release. The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin is one of the reference customers for grommunio in the Open Telekom Cloud... learn more https://lnkd.in/eHMYG6X7 #groupware #opensource #opensourcesoftware #opensourcecommunity #opensourcedevelopment #linux #collaboration #communication
