With the improvements of portability, accessibility and user-friendliness, many recent publications assessing the potential of fNIRS in clinical setting have been published. In their systematic review, Butters et al. investigated the potential of fNIRS as a diagnostic tool in patients suffering from dementia. The authors analyzed a vast array of studies to understand the haemodynamic responses in dementia, offering a new perspective on brain oxygenation and its implications for early detection and intervention strategies. fNIRS in clinical practice shows a promising future to help detect functional impairments in neurodegenerative conditions. 🌐 Read the full article here 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gtbhUvhV #Neuroimaging #fNIRS #BrainHealth #Dementia

“The brain is really the last frontier of medicine. We understand a lot about the heart, we understand a lot about the kidneys, and there are just still so many mysteries about the brain. There are so many diseases that urgently need to be understood better, so that we can develop better treatments, because these diseases fundamentally affect the very core of who we are.” Remo’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Meredith Bock talks to Dr. Emily Silverman about her journey to neurology, the role neurologists play on an interdisciplinary dementia care team, and how Remo is building a better experience for caregivers and people living with dementia. Working with one of our Parkinsons clients. We include balance and neuro cognitive assessments and training, along with gait, flexibility, strength and sub conscious proprioceptive programming. We are cash based and work on physician referral and scholarship funding from North San Diego Parkinson's support group. We have found similar programming very helpful for clients with MCI, long Covid, post stroke, and fall risk. Not our primary business, but very important testing ground for our products and programming. The goal is to make evidence based non pharm interventions affordable...particularly for degenerative issues and aging. dm me: dean@medicalfitsolutions.com #aging #balance #Parkinson's #neurological #sarcopenia #falls #stroke #rehabilitation #mci #healthcare

A study using frozen blood samples discovered proteins that could predict various forms of dementia more than a decade before diagnosis. The research, involving over 52,000 samples from the U.K., identified proteins like GFAP, NEFL, GDF15, and LTBP2 associated with higher dementia risk. Scientists aim to develop a simple blood test for dementia risk, as current methods are expensive. While these findings are promising, the study needs further validation. Neurofilament light, a protein already used clinically, showed potential in predicting dementia. Researchers believe such tests could advance dementia treatment development. #healthnews #healthnewstoday #newstudyreveal #dementia #dementiacare #InternationalNews #NewsHeadlines #NewsHighlights #ImportantNews

Using ultrasound to open the blood brain barrier so that medications – those we’ve been discussing a LOT these last years – can destroy beta-amyloid protein… the plaque that is the trademark of Alzheimer’s. That’s my summary of the cutting-edge Alzheimer’s treatment profiled in this amazing 60 Minutes story. Of course, I have questions: Questions that may begin with effectiveness… but certainly don’t end before we also address access and equity issues that so often, historically, have hurt our community… with medical progress not reaching ALL members of our community. But… But… this is a compelling story… and clearly, Dr. Ali Rezai of the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, the doctor at the head (pun intended) of this groundbreaking research, is also phenomenally compelling, talented and brilliant. And so… I celebrate the hope this story delivers. Hope I share with you now… on this chilly Tuesday evening… when we can all use a warm hug of hope. 💜 As always, please don’t hesitate to share YOUR thoughts about this and other Alzheimer’s and other dementia research. https://lnkd.in/gdV8UJSm 60 MINUTES #SoManyGoodbyes #60Minutes #Alzheimers #dementia #caregivers #AlzheimersResearch #DementiaResearch #AlzheimersSupport #dementiaSupport #AlzheimersFamily #DementiaFamily #AlzheimersDaughter #ENDALZ
