Over a month ago, our Nevion colleagues had the pleasure of attending another insightful #BroadcastAsia event together with our partners Magna Systems & Engineering and J&S Telecoms, reconnecting with industry peers and delving into the future of #broadcast. This year’s event highlighted several compelling topics, including: ➡️ The transformative impacts of VR and AR on audience experiences. These technologies, while enhancing engagement, also pose the challenge of managing latency issues caused by their intensive computing demands. Broadcasters must ensure low latency transport during production processes. ➡️ Cloud and 5G. Cloud platforms offer broadcasters scalable storage and processing capabilities, fostering efficient collaboration and enabling seamless remote production workflows. Coupled with the high bandwidth and low latency of 5G networks, broadcasters can deliver immersive content and real-time experiences to audiences. ➡️ Securing IP networks, particularly at the media edge where internal LANs connect to external WANs or the internet. Securing these points is crucial to maintaining the integrity, confidentiality and availability of media content. If you’re looking for highly scalable solutions that will enable you to take advantage of IP and IT technology in LAN, WAN, 5G and Cloud, take a look at our flagship products, VideoIPath, Virtuoso and eMerge: https://lnkd.in/efh5GgxD

For many of us, heading to a big stadium event is thrilling and it's something we never want to forget. It's why we love to share our favorite moments by uploading videos, posting photos on social media or streaming live content. However, this becomes difficult in congested areas, where everyone is trying to access the same network and do the same thing. Swedish operator Tele2 is on a mission to change this. Leveraging 5G technologies, they are carrying out major upgrades across Swedish stadiums to revolutionize the fan experience that merge the physical and digital world and make their live experience truly memorable. With arena venues seeing a 67% growth in data usage year over year, it's vital that the technology can not only keep up with demand but go above and beyond consumer expectations. Our Consumer Lab research suggests that some 5G smartphone users are willing to pay 11% more for an elevated service offering, showing the potential for growth. This is the future of creating unforgettable, memorable moments for fans. Watch the Tele2 story here https://lnkd.in/dRHGAiRJ #5G #5GFanExperience #MakeItMemorable

The return of large-scale events, both in-person and online, has highlighted the growing adoption of 5G Broadcast solutions at global and local events. 5G offers diverse use cases across its Coverage, Capacity, and High Throughput layers, enabling new broadcast opportunities. While 3GPP continues to evolve standards, industry collaboration is key, particularly with the upcoming Release 18+, which will emphasize broadcast and media as a significant vertical. Features such as network slicing and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) in 5G are crucial in meeting the low-latency demands of multi-camera setups for live outdoor events. With 5G networks becoming native IP and software-driven, the media broadcast industry must adapt to this digital transformation. Current statistics show a significant shift: - 68% of broadcasters use SRT for IP transport, - 60% rely on cellular as a backup, - 74% utilize 5G as their primary contribution network, - 80% adopt hybrid cloud and on-premises solutions. Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) are now the primary drivers of IP transformation in media workflows, spanning contribution, transport, and distribution processes. Although tier-1 broadcasters continue to rely on proven legacy technologies, new solutions showcased at IBC 2024 are paving the way for the future of broadcast technology.
