Firstly I would like to thank all my new connections for accepting my invitation. Since we launch our new golfing group, to raise awareness of the benefits of playing golf with a disability, we have had unbelievable feedback and support, and this is growing. With 20% of the population having a disability in one shape or other, many having reduced income, or even struggling to bring up children with disabilities. We aim to make golf more affordable for these. By working with Clubs, Suppliers, and Unions we will achieve this.
Golf has proved to help both physically and mentally for those that play, and more so for those we are trying to help.
How can you all help,
First, we have our first major event confirmed against the Scottish Disabled Golf & Curling (SDGC) in June at Herons Reach over three days. We are looking for sponsors that can help subsidise the event. One sponsor I would be particular interested to find, is one to help fund the life broadcasting of the event, so we can show case some of the people that will be playing. We have an army veteran who lost an arm whilst serving his country, one who has had multiply amputations, and one that is blind to name but three. It is very humbling, even for me, and showcasing this across our platforms would help massively.
In addition to the above, we are looking to raise funds so we can subsidise hubs, to help disabled people get in to golf.
Most able bodied individuals will not realise what difficulties a disabled person will have on a daily basis. If you are a golf club who needs help with getting you club ED&I ready, then reach out. I for one took my mobility for granted, until it deteriorated rapidly, and now have to plan how I move about. We are working with England Golf and Jamie Blair to help golf clubs achieve this.
If you can help, or want to know more, please reach out to discuss further.
Please Kindly share this post, and get it to reach far and wide
