There’s no such thing as a 'typical day' in the office when you’re a prompt engineer working on Generative AI (GenAI) projects at NAB!   Here’s a look at a day in the life of NAB prompt engineer Lily Martin.   ⏰ My alarm goes off...     At 7am. If I’m working from home, it’s breakfast first (currently yogurt, muesli, blueberries, and a banana) then into the bathroom for my skin care routine that has been crafted over years of watching influencers on YouTube. Then on to my walking pad while I answer emails and get set up for the day.  💻 I am responsible for...    Designing and refining instructions (or ‘prompts’) given to AI models like chat bots. 💡 Most important skill for this career…  A sense of creativity. I think GenAI is the perfect intersection between science and creativity. You could have all the technical skills in the world but if you don’t understand how language works and how to think of new ways to approach a problem, you’ll get stuck. A national, co-ordinated approach is critical to tackling the scams epidemic. The pair talked about the key players, the role of education and the need for collaboration across industries to stop the crime. Read more below on NAB news #scamsweek24

An unexpected message or phone call from a bank, telco, software company or government agency requesting access to your computer to remove a “virus” or “fix an issue”? That’s a red flag. 🚩    As part of Scams Awareness Week, NAB customer Philip Waller, who lost $10,000 to a remote access scam, is sharing his story to help educate others so they can protect themselves.     We continue to work every day to reduce the impact of scams. A career in data and ethics can be more colourful than you think! Here’s what typical 'day in the life' is like for Jay, NAB Privacy Lead in Privacy and Data Ethics… ⏰ My alarm goes off...    At 7am. I roll out of bed and get ready for the day. Work clothes are hanging out, prepared the day before so I don’t have to waste time thinking about it. I often dress in a colour scheme that compliments whatever colour nail polish I have on! I’ll then stop at my local coffee shop for an early morning pick-me-up for the tram in. 💼 My typical day...    It’s incredibly hard to tell what a day will look like in the privacy space, but right now I’m focused on our privacy training modules developed to help educate our colleagues. Our team is super agile, and the work is usually quite varied. Importantly, there is never a dull moment, and there is always more to learn! 🗨 Most important skill for this career…  Unsurprisingly, privacy is all about people and what identifies us. It’s about keeping personal information safe and secure, only collecting what you need, and being transparent about what you’ll be doing with it. In essence, much of being a privacy professional is about caring for people and thinking about what you would expect if you were in their position.    Go to NAB News to read more: https://lnkd.in/gaw_r4-V

That’s why the NAB Foundation Community Grants program provides funding of up to $25,000 for local projects that help communities withstand and recover from natural disasters. There’s $600k available this round, with applications now open until September 30th. Do you know of a community-led project that needs funding? Ever wondered what data + artificial intelligence (AI) ‘experts’ do? Interested in how data and AI powers are making the bank safer and simpler?    NAB’s Principal Data Scientist, Adrian takes us through their journey...   ⏰ My alarm goes off...    I normally wake up around 6:30am and go for a 30min run around the park – I find running in the morning helps me feel more concentrated throughout the day at work. I’d then go through my emails and meetings and prioritise the work for the day!    💼 I got my job...    I studied marketing at university but quickly discovered that I wasn’t very good at it so decided to pursue a Masters and a PhD in machine learning. Machine learning is basically teaching a computer to learn from experience. Just as you learn to recognise patterns and make decisions on what you’ve seen before, a computer uses data to learn and improve its performance over time.    📲 The most impressive thing I’ve done to help customers...  We have developed technology that helps to personalise notifications customers get in their NAB app. This means customers receive less junk mail and more helpful info on features they likely need including “travel notification feature” or the “savings goal feature”.    Go to NAB News to read more.  https://lnkd.in/gC93vFk6

When Jamie*, a NAB business customer, received a text from Lisa*, his EA, asking him about the weather in Darwin, he knew something wasn’t quite right. Jamie, who had been a scam victim a few years earlier, spotted the red flags almost right away and called his NAB Business Banker, Risma Price. “Jamie and Lisa did all the right things by staying vigilant and spotting the red flag,” said Ms Price. “This all unfolded in about 20 minutes, highlighting the importance of staying alert to scammers and acting quickly.”   Read more about how to protect yourself from impersonation scams on NAB News: https://lnkd.in/guwYjyG4 *Names have been changed for privacy reasons
