The history of Tulsa's Greenwood community, also known as Black Wall Street, did not end in 1921. Reverend Harold M. Anderson's silent footage illuminates how Black Oklahomans returned and rebuilt Greenwood in the years after the Tulsa Race Massacre, carrying the memories of the tragedy with them. Created from silent footage captured between 1948 and 1952, the Harold M. Anderson Black Wall Street Film Collection documents the daily life of Anderson's fellow African American residents in the Greenwood District. Anderson was a successful businessman who managed and then owned two neighborhood movie theaters, a skating rink, bowling alley, and shopping strip, as well as other enterprises. He also brought the Golden Gloves boxing tournament to the area, making it accessible to Black fans. For the first time, all of Anderson's footage from the 1940s and 1950s is now online. We're excited to see what researchers, educators, students, and others will discover while watching the full film: https://lnkd.in/gSXr-5Sk Teach your chidlren about the greantess of Black Wall Street with our book series, The ABCs of Black Wall Street. In 2018, Clemson University formed the adaptive sports program, which provides athletic opportunities to students with mobility impairments. Today, Clemson remains the only university in South Carolina to offer adaptive sports as well as a related concentration in recreational therapy as a part of Clemson PRTM - Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management. Jasmine Townsend, one of RHBSSI's faculty fellows, is the director of the adaptive sports program in addition to being the recreation therapy program coordinator. As an advocate for my community, I'm thrilled to begin a project series that holds great significance for the world of queer performance artists, especially within the legacy of ballroom culture. In our world --- history is critical. It helps us understand the lineage of our art, where it’s come from and how it has evolved to the form we see today. As practitioners, we have the power to influence how the next generation sees and understands our form. We must understand this power so that we can prevent misinformation and the forgetting of the past. Introducing Memory Docs: I’m proud to unveil Memory Docs, or documentary-style shorts that delve deep into the happenings of ballroom culture and the surrounding community. This project aims to be a comprehensive exploration and behind the scenes pass, all brought to you by independent black and brown creators. Questioning External Media: Beyond preserving history, Memory Docs will also address the influx of external media into our spaces. It's time to question why these powerful storytelling tools were not given to us to communicate our own narratives. Let's challenge this and reclaim our voices. MEMORY DOC 01 - Now Available

"After teaching and leading barre3 studio teams all over the state of Oklahoma for nine years, I took ownership of barre3 OKC 18 days before closing it due to COVID-19. To have survived, overcome and even evolved our studio through that has by far been my biggest obstacle." The University of Montana Western Rodeo Team hosted its 54th Annual Montana Western Rodeo Banquet last month. The rodeo banquet is the primary fundraising event for student scholarships, facilitating essential practice opportunities, offsetting travel expenses, covering hotel accommodations, and supporting the Montana Western College rodeo in the fall. This year at the event, UMW Rodeo paid tribute to the enduring legacy of Benny and Rooster Reynolds, two of Dillon's most iconic rodeo heroes. Their significant impact has played a crucial role in shaping Dillon's rich rodeo heritage. Watch the full Rodeo Legends: Benny and Rooster Reynolds film here:

July 4th isn't just fireworks and barbecues. It's a day that transformed the world, not just a nation.
