Corporal Corporal is a military rank in use by the armed forces of many countries. It is also a police rank in some services. The rank is usually the lowest ranking non-commissioned officer. In some militaries, the rank of corporal nominally corresponds to commanding a section or squad of soldiers. The word is a contraction from the medieval Italian phrase capo corporale (transl. head of a body [of soldiers]). The rank of corporal, which falls between lance-corporal and sergeant is used by the British Army, Royal Marines, and Royal Air Force. The badge of rank is a two-bar chevron (also known as "stripes", "tapes", or "hooks"). A corporal's role varies between regiments; but, in the standard infantry role, a corporal commands a section, with a lance-corporal as second-in-command (2ic). When the section is split into fire teams, they command one each. In the Royal Armoured Corps, a corporal commands an individual tank. Their duties therefore largely correspond to those of staff sergeants in the United States Army and corporals are often described as the "backbone" of the British Army. A common nickname for a corporal is a "full screw"

How many of you have heard of a US Air Force Combat Controller? It's not a job that's well known inside the military, let alone to those outside the service. But these unsung heroes are a special forces cadre that doesn't get all the glory the Navy Seals or Delta Force gets, but their contribution to dynamic battlefield environments is equally significant. U.S. Air Force Combat Controllers (CCTs) are highly trained special operations forces and FAA-certified air traffic controllers. Their primary role is to deploy into combat and austere environments to establish and control airfields, manage air traffic, and coordinate air support. While their primary mission is airfield and traffic control, CCTs are also trained in direct action, reconnaissance, and personnel recovery. They often participate in offensive raids and defensive operations alongside other special operations forces. And that's precisely what John Chapman's mission was in Afghanistan on March 2, 2002. His actions earned him the Medal of Honor twice over and his courage is a testament to the unbreakable America warrior ethos. We couldn't pay any man enough money to live up to John Chapman's memory, so instead we just put a guy in a t-shirt we designed to honor and remember him. It’s Friday …. Yay ! Thought we’d do something military today. No matter what anyone says we believe the A11 watch manufactured jointly in WW2 by Waltham, Elgin & Bulova was the first what has now become known as a Field Watch. However there were a number of iterations of the A11, so you will find A11s in the European Theatre with both the USAAF and a variation with the RAF, the model,shown here is rarer as it’s a FSSC-88-W-800 which denotes a US Navy pilots watch. As most of the war with Japan involved infantry and the US Navy and was fought in the Pacific over large stretches of water and small Islands so most US Navy pilots operated from Flat Top Aircraft Carriers or were based at Pearl Harbour. If only watches could talk this could tell a story we’re sure ! Plans are for the US military to retire these. That is absolutely absurd as is the intention of the US Air Force with the A-10. Instead, these aircraft should be turned over to the air National Guard and Air Force reserve as well as the Naval/Marine reserve. Furthermore volunteers that have retired from the military can assist in the maintenance of these aircraft. There is still a place for these, even though they are not stealthy, they can be pulled out of the reserves and air National Guard to be used in the time of warfare. Do you have spent billions and billions and dollars on aircraft and then just retire them to the boneyard is absolutely stupidity and a waste of our tax dollars , as well as a decrease in our capabilities. If I were president of the United States, I would sign an executive order to maintain these aircraft on a sideline basis, primarily with volunteers and reserves. Retired naval and Air Force pilots could volunteer as auxiliary. Furthermore, students in ROTC in colleges could volunteer to train and be back up as well. With a volunteer Force at state levels, essentially Militias these would serve ax security of the states. Doing Defence Equipments for Air Force and Navy

I found this article very helpful as a transitioning military servicemember living in the Midwest (link in comments). Many active duty military servicemembers with good credit ratings are exempt from annual fees of premium credit cards, but are faced with an interesting choice when leaving active duty. Which cards does one choose to keep and which ones does one discard? For those who prefer to fly Delta, this article helps to answer that choice. I actually think it is pretty sad that an AMEX cardholder and Delta flyer earns more points per airline $ spent on the AMEX Platinum than on the Delta Reserve...even when flying on Delta.
