WAHF stands for quality education for all. The 👇 video clip is from one of our educational support programs implemented at St John's Anglican School in Ikire tagged "BIRO project". This initiative provided essential educational resources, including over 50 school bags to pupils who needed it the most and writing materials to almost 200 pupils. But what drives "BIRO project"? It's more than just a writing instrument. The acronym stands for a commitment to provide B: basic educational materials I: instil vital moral values, R: rescue and restore fading aspirations and O: obey the imperative to nurture young minds. Through BIRO project, WAHF makes significant contributions to support quality education for vulnerable populations. By joining forces, we can empower the voiceless and create a brighter future. Education has the power to evolve the lives of people from darkness to bright light. So, I am trying to give educational heritage in my free time to my Rohingya younger generation who are growing up in the camps of Bangladesh. Like me, many other educated Rohingyas are trying to educate the younger generations by opening private classes. I assume that teaching quality education to the young generations is also the social responsibility of every educated person as the situation is dire and difficult to access quality education in the Camps. But our efforts are not enough to educate our younger generations. I always motivate, empower and admonish my students and youths not to give up on their studies and to try their best to be successful in life. I also support them mentally not to lose their dreams and hopes of a better future due to the unfavourable situation for Rohingyas. The younger generations are our hope to bring positive and luminous changes to the Rohingya's decades-long and unsolved sufferings. Our younger generations deserve quality basic and higher education like others around the world. In conclusion, I am humbly screaming and requesting here to all of you to speak out for basic and higher-quality education for the Rohingya younger generation. Your voice can change the lives of the Rohingyas into a peaceful and prosperous society. # If Education is a fundamental human right, why not for the Rohingya? # Do Rohingya's younger generations not deserve quality education?

Driven by an unwavering commitment to address pressing challenges, UGEAFI has directed its passion towards the education sector in Minembwe and other regions grappling with similar issues. Below are the major challenges encountered: - Absence of Teaching Manuals and Programs: Schools in Minembwe lacked essential teaching materials and structured programs for effective education delivery. - Lack of Competent and Qualified Staff: The region faced a shortage of competent and qualified educators, hindering the delivery of quality education to students. - Inadequate School Infrastructure: The absence of suitable school infrastructure further impeded the learning environment in Minembwe, making it challenging for students to access a conducive educational setting. - Lack of an Accurate Evaluation System: The absence of a reliable evaluation system for assessing the progress of children created a significant gap in monitoring and improving educational outcome. - Limited Oversight by the Education Ministry: Schools in Minembwe operated without adequate oversight and support from the education ministry, leading to a lack of coordination and standardized practices. - Long Distances for State Examinations: Students from Minembwe faced the arduous task of traveling 150 kilometers to reach the designated state examinations site, adding logistical challenges to their educational journey. In consequence to the above challenges, less than 10% of children in Minembwe, mainly boys attended schools. And no finalist in Minembwe would succeed to the final state examinations before the intervention of UGEAFI in education sector. To tackle the above-mentioned challenges in order to improve the education quality in the Minembwe region, UGEAFI implemented the following measures: - Construction of a pilot school called Isoko Complex school: It’s a pilot school built by UGEAFI in Minembwe in 2005. The aim is to make it a model of an education of quality. - Organization of a partnership with local schools to boost their education quality: UGEAFI organized a sure partnership with ten local schools including 7 secondary and 3 primary schools. - Building the capacity of partner schools’ staffs: UGEAFI reinforced the capacity of partner schools ’staffs and provided to them the manual and programs. - Organization of follow up missions in partner schools: UGEAFI organized follow up sessions at the partner schools in order to evaluate and make sure they apply instructions given to them in the build capacity sessions. The Forum will serve as a platform for exploring these challenges with partners. We will take stock of achievements and discuss innovative solutions. These examples underscore the positive impact of removing financial barriers to higher education, facilitating the academic advancement of individuals and contributing to the overall development of the nation. Implementing such policies in Pakistan would be a crucial step toward fostering a more inclusive and knowledge-driven society.
