🌟 From a Dream to a Mission: My TCF Journey 🌟 In 2006, I stepped into a TCF school as a student, full of hope but facing financial challenges. With TCF’s incredible support — a fee of just Rs. 50 until matriculation — I managed to navigate my education with ease and focus. By 2021, I completed my intermediate from TCF College, and today, I’m even prouder to contribute to TCF’s mission as a Senior Data Management Officer at The Citizens Foundation. But the journey doesn’t end here. I’m pursuing my education and currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science — fueled by the values and skills I learned at TCF. Working for the organization that shaped my life is a dream come true. The immense support TCF has provided in my academic and professional growth inspires me to give back every day. The journey was not always easy. There were challenges — moments where doubt could have overshadowed dreams. But the unwavering support of my teachers, the nurturing environment at TCF, and the belief instilled in me to aim higher kept me going. Last week, Nadia Naviwala and I had the opportunity to visit 3 Government of Punjab schools managed by The Citizens Foundation through public private partnership via the Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) in Talagang, Chakwal District. It was inspiring to see the spirit and passion in principals and teachers to work for the betterment of children. The students were engaged and active and looked genuinely happy to be in school. Public-Private Partnerships have breathed new life into these schools. The Government of Punjab has definitely shown great maturity since 2016 in admitting their shortcomings and handing over the management of schools to capable organizations like TCF. The flexibility shown by the government has allowed TCF to scale its successful model to these schools. To facilitate and support teachers in their professional development and effectively transfer their learning to the students, TCF has developed dedicated Reading Materials and Teacher Guides to supplement the existing curriculum, including development of teacher guides for multigrade classrooms (where enrollment is low) accompanied by rigorous training. Teachers have responded positively and it was exciting to see these initiatives in action at these schools. The Government's flexibility has also allowed TCF to implement its internationally recognised school leadership model to hire and support principals in these schools to ensure professional management and academic growth. TCF has also implemented its monitoring mechanisms and scaled its governance structure to seamlessly integrate these schools into its system. By having dedicated Area Education Managers to monitor and support principals along with School Visit Forms and Classroom Observation Forms to ensure a constant feedback loop. Principals and Teachers discuss feedback regularly on dedicated Staff Development Days (another key feature of TCF's professional development model for teachers). Through centralised teacher competency testing, centralised teacher and principal training, centralised student assessments developed in-house, and regular external evaluation of learning outcomes using the ASER framework validated by institutions like Pratham Education Foundation and Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), these schools are following high standards of accountability. With an existing portfolio of 250+ Punjab Government schools under its management and more coming, TCF has measurably raised learning outcomes at these schools through its model. According to ASER, only 36% of students could read and comprehend a grade level text when TCF first adopted these schools in 2016. This grew to 87% in 2023. I had written about this impact several times and while I knew how it had taken shape on paper, to see it in practice was inspiring! No single government or organization can solve Pakistan's education crisis on it's own. Strategic partnerships really are the way forward!

Through Aagahi, TCF’s literacy program for women, over 221,000 women have gained the confidence to transform their lives, uplifting their families and creating lasting positive impacts within their communities. #TCF #ChangeBeginsWithEducation #Aagahi
