“When there is commitment, when there is perseverance, infrastructure is built, dreams are achieved, gaps are closed and Cajamarca develops.” – Dario Zegarra, Country Manager of Newmont Peru Recently, the inter-institutional cooperation agreement for the development of the Chonta dam was signed by the President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Boluarte; the Minister of Economy and Finance; the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation; the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation; the Provincial Mayor of Cajamarca; and the Country Manager of Newmont Peru, Dario Zegarra. The collaboration between institutions and civil society has made it possible to take this important step toward realizing a long-awaited project that will allow the storage of 44 million cubic meters of water, ensuring water availability in Cajamarca and fostering agricultural business where we operate.
