NOPSEMA approved Shell’s drilling plan for Crux gas field, backfill for Prelude FLNG. Australia’s National Offshore #Petroleum Safety and #Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) has approved #Shell's plan for the 2 TCF Crux gas field development, approximately 190 km off the Kimberley coast of Western #Australia and 620 km north-east of Broome. According to the Global LNG Database® (1), the major operator had taken positive final #investment decision (FID) on the $2.5 billion Crux development project in May 2022 which includes #construction of a not normally manned (NNM) platform and #drilling of approximately five #wells. The project area also includes the 165 km #pipeline which will connect Crux to the Prelude FLNG facility. Crux will have the capacity to supply Prelude with up to 550 MMCF/D of #gas until 2047. Shell intends to commence the field’s drilling works in the first quarter of this year with first gas expected in 2027 in a bid to provide more feedgas for its 3.6 MMT/Y Prelude FLNG project and extend the facility’s production life into the 2030s. Vår Energi makes Cerisa oil and gas discovery in Gjøa area offshore Norway : The Vår Energi-operated Cerisa exploration well in production license PL 636 offshore Norway was successful, with estimated gross recoverable resources of between 18-39 MMboe.
