DYK: Demand for clienteling and remote selling is accelerating faster than any other omnichannel category? That’s one of the key findings from our latest consumer survey, which evaluates shoppers' expectations for modern store associates. According to the annual research initiative: 💬 60% of respondents expect store associates to contact them directly about product arrivals, promotions, and more—a 12% increase since 2021. 👩💻 43% of respondents now expect associates to sell them products remotely, a 17% increase over the same period. Real World Retail: Why Stores Still Matter The latest report from ICSC, The Halo Effect III: Where the Halo Shines, proves yet again that physical retail is essential in an omnichannel strategy. After analyzing nearly $850 billion in transactions, the findings are clear: opening a physical store boosts online sales in the surrounding trade area by an average of 6.9%, with direct-to-consumer brands seeing a 13.9% increase! As expected, closing a store has the opposite effect, with online sales dropping by 11.5% in the trade area. The data also highlights that Gen Z, often considered "digital natives," prefer in-store shopping more than Millennials and Gen X, reinforcing the ongoing relevance of physical stores. The key takeaway: Physical retail is thriving, not just as a convenience but as a driver of total brand performance, enhancing both in-store and online experiences.
