Welcome to Healthy State. Imagine a Louisiana where everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthier, more prosperous life. That's the vision of Healthy State. By engaging with healthcare, community, education and policy organizations from across the state, we are working together to tackle the leading causes of poor health - together. Ochsner Health provided the initial funding, resources, and expertise to kickstart this unified effort, but Healthy State is about collective action through our Healthy State Alliance. Our mission? To inspire healthier lives and stronger communities through partnership. Our vision? To create a more equitable and healthier Louisiana by bringing resources to underserved areas, raising awareness of health and social impact, leveraging data, technology, and innovation, and investing in economic growth and workforce development. A prosperous Louisiana requires more than just economic mobility; it requires good education, good jobs, health awareness, and sustainable living. Regardless of our backgrounds, we are united by a common goal: to build a healthier Louisiana where families, neighbors, and friends can thrive. Join us in shaping a healthier future for our state. Together, we can make it happen. Read more about us and get involved! https://lnkd.in/gZBRqHDi

Deeply honored to be partnered with this amazing group from University of St Andrews, The University of Edinburgh, NHS Fife, NHS Highland and so many others on highly significant work managing acute unscheduled and end-of-life care. 🔍 The project emerged amid unprecedented pressure on the country’s unscheduled care services, driven by workforce shortages, demographic changes, and widespread multimorbidity (when a person has two or more long-term health conditions). In 2022, Accident & Emergency waiting times hit record levels, and over a quarter-million calls to NHS24 went unanswered. Alongside these services, unscheduled care also includes General Practice Out-of-Hours (GPOOH) and the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS). 🩺 Research shows that one group frequently using these services is individuals in their last year of life. Although essential, unscheduled care often isn’t the most appropriate option for them, relying on a reactive approach rather than nuanced, anticipatory, and coordinated planning. This can lead to fragmented, expensive, and less effective care, causing additional distress to patients and their families. 💡 Our program will leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze existing healthcare data and predict future patterns of unscheduled care use by patients in their last year of life. This will help identify those who may need social care reviews, prescribing interventions, or other anticipatory care measures, ultimately reducing their reliance on unscheduled care. 🌟 Excited to be part of this transformative initiative! #HealthcareInnovation #AIinHealthcare #PatientCare #EndOfLifeCare #UnscheduledCare Yale School of Medicine Yale Emergency Medicine Yale Biomedical Informatics & Data Science Yale School of Public Health

This is what HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences is about: collaboration, exploration, respect for each other, and fun. Health science divisions need to build up interprofessional activities among all our professions. Starting these activities from the onset of our students’ training, will allow for students to respect each others chosen profession and understand that they WILL work together once out in the field. Because ultimately, the end goal is positive patient outcomes. We achieve this by working together as a collaborative healthcare team. We need to break silos between our occupations and build bridges instead. Thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Ho for starting this much-needed initiative. These efforts to train the next generation of healthcare professionals to work as a team are paving the way for a bright future. #arrt #txsrt #radiography #radiology #experiences #RADexperiences #asrt #radtech #radiographer #radiologictechnology #radiologic #BeRad #BeSeenASRT #ColemanCollege #HoustonCommunityCollege #Moments #JRCERT #CultureBuilds #healthcare #interprofessional #fun #healthcarecommunity #breaksilosbuildbridges #healthcareprofessionals #healthscience #healthsciencecollege #healthsciencescolleges #healthsciencedivision #healthscienceinitiatives

Further, the disparity being felt by many residents which has a negative impact on a person's quality of life, well-being, and even a student's ability to learn? 🤕📚 🙋♀️ Growing up in Milwaukee myself, I found this was often a byproduct of lead/asbestos/hazardous materials which are common in older homes & many working environments in great cities like #Milwaukee & other metro regions throughout the #Midwest & #RustBelt - - seeing as our cities are vital to the production of goods & services that supply #OEMs around the globe! 💪 🌻🌻 If you are also interested in learning more about what can be done, including about the organizations that are working together to address these issues, join me this Wednesday, September 25 at Marquette University Law School - Lubar Center for Public Policy Research & Civic Education for a moderated discussion #OnTheIssues: Health Equity in Milwaukee. 🌻🌻 ⚖ Lubar Center Director, Derek Mosley, JD will lead a conversation with panelists Kirsten Johnson, Secretary-designee of Wisconsin Department of Health Services | Dr. Mark Lodes, Chief Medical Officer for Population Health and Medical Education at Medical College of Wisconsin | Dr. C. The impact of health equity in Milwaukee is significant in determining a person’s quality of life and well-being. Milwaukee has some of the largest disparities between its Black and white residents in several categories, including infant mortality, blood-lead levels, and life expectancy. Organizations are working together to address these issues, but what more can and should be done to ensure all can lead a healthy and fulfilling life? Lubar Center Director Derek Mosley will lead a conversation with panelists Secretary-designee Kirsten Johnson, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and from the Medical College of Wisconsin Dr. Mark Lodes, Chief Medical Officer for Population Health and Medical Education, and Dr. C. Greer Jordan, Institute for Health Equity. The program will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m. in Eckstein Hall. A light lunch will be available. Please register here: https://lnkd.in/g6Z89hik
