With work and life always going at a frantic pace it can be so easy to think "oh I'm too busy this week I'll check in with everyone next week". All it takes is a message: "Friend check-in! How is everything going for you at the moment?" You would be surprised how many times I've caught my friends at moments of hardship, weakness, grief, stress, and how much it can help just to have someone check in at the right time. While we promote checking in on the people we care about, don't forget to also take stock of yourself and your own mental health. Some great questions to ask yourself now-and-then are: 1. How would I describe my mood overall since my last self check-in? 2. In the last 6 months, has my mood changed? Do I feel more positive or more negative? 3. Am I more/less stressed or anxious recently? 4. Do I know why I might be feeling this way (whether I am feeling better or feeling worse?) 5. What are 3 things I have been consistently doing to take care of my body and my mind? 6. What are 5 things that I am grateful for today? These are questions that I ask myself often to take stock of where I am, and to help me identify when I need to reach out to people for support. It can be so easy not to notice your health gradually slipping until you're in a full tumble. 🤒 Please check in on all your friends (even the ones who don't seem like they need it!) this Men's Mental Health Month!
