🌍 Yesterday (January 26) marked the International Day of Clean Energy by the United Nations — a pivotal reminder of the urgent need to transition toward clean, renewable energy sources for the health of our planet and future generations. 🏭 Energy production remains one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, primarily driven by fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. It’s evident: to combat climate change, we must embrace clean energy solutions that are accessible, sustainable, and reliable. ☀ From solar and wind to hydropower and geothermal energy, renewable energy offers a path to a greener, more equitable world. This transition is more than just an environmental goal; it’s a call to action for a just and inclusive future where clean energy benefits everyone. Although there still is a long way to go, we can take this day as an opportunity to reflect, raise awareness, and inspire action toward a clean energy future. 🔗 Learn more about the International Day of Clean Energy: https://lnkd.in/gmCiCNCe 🔗 Organisations can take a critical first step towards sustainability by mapping their carbon footprint, which involves measuring emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 to understand and reduce their environmental impact: https://lnkd.in/eFrMU5kW #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #ClimateAction

On 26 January, 2025, the world will celebrate the third annual International Clean Energy Day, a global observance dedicated to raising awareness and mobilising action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy. The International Day of Clean Energy on 26 January was declared by the General Assembly (resolution A/77/327) as a call to raise awareness and mobilize action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet. 26 January is also the founding date of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), a global intergovernmental agency established in 2009 to support countries in their energy transitions, serve as a platform for international cooperation, and provide data and analyses on clean energy technology, innovation, policy, finance and investment. Clean energy refers to energy sources that produce minimal to no greenhouse gas emissions, primarily including: Solar power: Electricity generated from sunlight using photovoltaic panels, considered one of the cleanest energy sources. Wind power: Electricity produced by wind turbines harnessing wind energy. Hydropower: Electricity generated from the flow of water in rivers or dams. Geothermal power: Utilizing heat from the Earth's core to generate electricity. Biomass energy: Energy derived from organic materials like plants and waste, which can be burned to produce heat. Tidal power: Harnessing the energy from ocean tides to generate electricity. Key characteristics of clean energy: Renewable: Sources replenish naturally over time, unlike fossil fuels. Low carbon emissions: Produces minimal greenhouse gases, contributing to climate change mitigation. Environmentally friendly: Reduces air pollution compared to fossil fuels. Economic benefits: Can create jobs in manufacturing, installation, and maintenance. Important considerations regarding clean energy: Intermittency: Some sources like solar and wind can be dependent on weather conditions, requiring energy storage solutions. Infrastructure development: Significant investment may be needed to build necessary power grids and transmission lines. Land use: Certain clean energy projects may require large land areas, raising concerns about environmental impact. #Internationaldayofcleanenergy2025 #saveearth #savegreenandblueeconomy #Climatechange #Globalwarming #Wildfires #Floods

The European Union is reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable future with a new target to cut net greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2040, compared to 1990 levels. 🌍 🔋 As the EU plans to increase the share of electricity in its energy mix to 50% by 2040, predominantly powered by renewable sources like solar, wind, and hydropower, the landscape of energy consumption in Europe is set to transform dramatically. 💡 The increase in renewable energy usage supports the EU's climate goals and at the same time opens up new avenues for industries across Europe to innovate and adapt to cleaner technologies. This shift promises enhanced energy independence and economic stability, reducing the reliance on fossil fuel imports which have historically burdened the EU's economy. In response to the evolving energy landscape, ACTIV remains committed to environmental responsibility as part of our core business strategy. Recognizing the importance of both environmental and economic sustainability, we continue to support a balanced energy mix that includes both traditional and renewable sources. ACTIV is dedicated to leveraging our extensive expertise in project management and energy solutions to facilitate this transition, ensuring that every project we undertake maximizes both energy efficiency and environmental integrity. 🌱 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dnNyMNcT #climateaction #eu #sustainability #renewableenergy #activ

Renewable energy has the power to combat climate change while alleviating energy poverty. Expanding countries’ capacities to produce renewable energy reduces their dependence on fossil fuels and can significantly lower CO2 emissions. Additionally, renewable energy technologies and their off-grid and mini-grid solutions could bring power to millions of people living without electricity – a key enabler of development and economic growth. Unfortunately, progress towards renewable energy access and the #GlobalGoal 7 has stalled for the first time in over a decade. In 2022, 685 million people still lacked access to electricity, even though the vast majority of them live in areas with abundant renewable energy resources.
