Autonomy leads to innovation and growth. Celebrate Diversity: Our nation thrives on diversity. Happy Independence Day! How are you celebrating? I’m celebrating all of the reasons and more that Taters, including myself, feel empowered to be our best and do our best - thanks to freedom, independence and trust. This art of encouragement is embedded in Small Potatoes Communications, where leadership has embraced #workplaceflexibility that supports our independence. For me, that independence looks like working from the office in the mornings when I am most focused, then working from home in the afternoons when I need to take short walks to get my brain back on track. It also looks like encouraging me to visit family in Cincinnati and Memphis and setting me up for success when I go on vacation so that I don’t have to look at my Slack or Outlook (no matter how much I itch to). Freedom is deeply personal and looks different for every person. On #IndependenceDay, Americans celebrate freedom in all facets – liberation from an oppressive power, choosing our own destinies and declaring our own proud identities. This freedom doesn’t end when employees come back to work after barbecues and fireworks. We carry it with us, from the ways we express ourselves in fashion to our preferred methods of #communication. So, when you go back to work on Monday after a weekend of celebrating, identify how your #organizationalculture prioritizes employees proudly showing and utilizing their strengths and differences. Let us know what you find! - Sydney Jones #wfh #remotework #fourthofjuly #agencylife #employeebenefits

Three Cheers for Australia! Oi, Oi, Oi 🤗 The Business Advice Agency stands behind this great Nation of ours and Fully supports our lucky country, the Australian way of life and all the Small To Medium Aussie Business owners who are the back bone of the economy. It is ANNOYING that wokeness creeps around to disrupt the Australian way of life and large politicized companies project a Woke agenda,- However, a practical response to this, is to consciously redirect support away from such entities. By choosing not to patronize or endorse these companies, we can actively contribute to preserving the values we hold dear. Here is a short personal story which highlights being Australian. My wife's parents are Indian and on her mothers side, they immigrated to Australia in the 1870's. Anyway, on one occasion an ignorant person told her to "Go back to where you came from" To which she swiftly answered, “what - Australia!” 😲 I firmly believe that if you're born here, you inherently "identify" as indigenous to Australia, regardless of whether your parents arrived yesterday or centuries ago. (even “first Nations” People migrated to Australia at some time) Those from other countries who chose to become Australian Citizens have chosen to permanently live in Australia as the best place in the world to settle and live, contribute to our community and in time of war and hardship, will be in the trenches with you. We are all Australians, and any notion suggesting otherwise should be reconsidered to promote inclusivity rather than division. As Australia Day approaches, let's embrace unity and diversity, wishing everyone a joyful and safe celebration!

Banish Burnout with Style | Leadership Development and Personal Branding | Authentic Alignment Expert | TEDx Speaker | Certified Master Professional Coach and Certified Personal Stylist
It's June—the beginning of summer for most of us and a time to celebrate freedom and fun. It's also Pride Month and Juneteenth, two observances that are close to my heart. (If you want to know why both are important to me, check out our blog post: https://lnkd.in/gkqV6JY4). This year, I've got a lot of feels around these topics. Living in Utah, one of the first states to pass anti-DEI legislation, and as someone who grew up in diverse communities and attended inner-city schools, I feel both sad and concerned about how these current trends will impact workplace culture and a workforce already grappling with burnout, frustration, and engagement. With already lowered university enrollments across the board, the future of skilled workers entering the marketplace is also uncertain--and anti-DEI initiatives will affect this trend as well. Strap on your seat belts, folks, because we’re in for a ride. Organizations will need to pivot and focus on employee retention like never before. That's where my work comes in. As a Certified Master Professional Coach and Certified Personal Stylist, I help organizations design vibrant, inclusive work cultures that not only combat burnout but also foster engagement and productivity and I help burned-out professionals regain their clarity, direction, and edge as they bring their personal style to their personal and professional brands. I believe that human beings are the world's greatest natural resource and that learning to truly value and utilize our diverse strengths and perspectives is essential to rising out of the collective funk that's existed and persisted recently. My hope is that we'll be able navigate these challenges together with style, grace, and class. Passionate about designing and facilitating bespoke solutions to promote reflection, growth and positive change for individuals and teams.
A well-deserved vacation may not be enough to reset so that you can experience flourishing at work. And... if you are not part of the dominant culture or a high-status group member you are even less likely to have access to or experience the freedom to: 1. Be your authentic self- Employees who don't believe their true selves are valued tend to withhold dissenting views. 2. Become your best self - To flourish all employees need access to strengths-based development programs and receive positive, objective, constructive feedback. 3. Occasionally fade into the background- This is the freedom to take a break from the dominant culture of 'always on' and performance pressure without the fear of perceived judgement and failure. 4. Fail in ways that help others learn. Members of the dominant group tend to have more second chance opportunities. This freedom is about psychological safety for all by reducing the stigma around failure and normalizing opportunities to learn from mistakes. Those in positions of privilege have the opportunity to cultivate these four freedoms that allow people to bring their full humanity to work.
