Breda University of Applied Sciences is excited to host the 18th World Leisure Congress. The Congress brings together leisure professionals from all around the world, academia, government, and industry to promote informative, stimulating, and challenging discussions on the latest issues in leisure. Breda University of Applied Sciences fully embraces the view that leisure should be for the benefit of all human beings. Therefore, we have chosen the WLO 2025 conference theme in the Netherlands “Leisure for a Better Society”. We define three different vantage points that give our theme focus and relevance: a social perspective, an economic perspective, and a sustainability perspective. These three perspectives serve as binding elements and as an organizing principle throughout the conference program. https://lnkd.in/dq78TXHC

This evening, we are privileged to welcome a hundred industry partners and friends to the launch of the Global Space Technology Convention and Exhibition (GSTCE). For sixteen editions, the Global Space and Technology Convention (GSTC) has been the go-to platform for the world's space and satellite business. Now, in its latest evolution, the Convention enters a new phase of growth under the new name GSTCE, reflecting our commitment to expanding its scope and impact. We are particularly honoured to have Mr Kong Hwee Tan, Executive Vice President of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), join us in marking GSTCE. GSTCE 2025 promises to be bigger and better! GSTCE will focus on space technology as the centre of igniting innovation – for space and for Earth – with a larger showcase of technologies and the capabilities of space tech. As we transition from GSTC to GSTCE, you can expect the following transformation: 1. A wider Convention agenda focusing on space-for-space and space-for-earth discussions. 2. Equal focus on Convention and Exhibition elements highlights space innovations for broader adoption across non-space sectors. 3. More in-depth Workshops to strengthen space tech applications. We have a new home for GSTCE 2025 – the iconic Marina Bay Sands, which will further elevate the experience for our attendees and offer us the scale to grow with our ambitions. 𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗨𝗧𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗 Just returned from a deep dive into the intersection of AI, innovation, culture and tech. The theme? 𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪. And dare, we did. From January 11th to 13th, we explored the ever-changing world of tech, pushing the boundaries from AI advancements to sustainable living. The breadth of discussions was nothing short of staggering. The magnetism was palpable, courtesy of the speakers, beacons in their domains. Their wisdom was dished out in refreshingly grounded servings, turning complex ideas into digestible nuggets. Their vision about our tech-infused future, nothing short of inspiring. Yet, the real magic of DLD Munich 24? The people. Picture a room pulsating with individuals as tech-obsessed and future-focused as you are. The camaraderie, contagious. A perfect curtain call to deepen connections and build new ones. This event showed me once again that Germany still has everything it takes to be a world leader. This positive spirit must be preserved and strengthened in the coming months, despite the negative narrative! Kudos to the DLD Conference team for orchestrating an event that was more than a conference – it was an unforgettable experience. As the anticipation for the next edition builds up, one thing is clear – the future of tech awaits, and we are ready to dare again! #daredeutschland

Will we still rely on personal cars in the future EU mobility landscape? While new technologies hold promises to make transport safer, more efficient, sustainable and equitable, whether in the future we'll still massively own a car and rely on it for our mobility needs is vastly unclear. To understand how situation will evolve we have started a collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano to measure car-dependency and monitor its evolution over time. A first output of this project is a vast literature review just published on Springer's European Transport Research Review https://lnkd.in/dNkCN58E The work has clearly showed, that although widely studied as a concept, car-dependency still needs a proper framework to be measured, which is key in order to monitor its evolution over time. How is defined car-dependency is essential to prepare a future where car will not be predominent. As part of a collaboration with Politecnico di Milano on this subject, I am glad to present our first output. In this literature review we highlight that the concept of car-dependency still needs a proper framwork to be measured. A special thanks to Jaime Sierra for his first publication and the great work done!
