On October 18th I celebrated 2 year work anniversary. I planned to write something inspiring about my accomplishments of my last two years but I want to focus on the last 2 weeks: - controlling emotions: me joining a zoom meeting, pausing for a siren and being able to switch back to business; - managing two teams: one at work and one at home, consisting of a 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy. - remaining focused and on track: me conducting a presentation while my little one cheerfully turned his mealtime into a colorful spectacle to capture my attention. - training a lot on taking the right priorities: whether it is cooking a meal/taking a shower/cleaning apartment during my lunch break; - staying professional: refraining from tuning into media, news, or social networks during work hours to shield myself from any updates about additional kidnapped or killed civilians, some of whom may be familiar faces. I love my job and value the opportunities it brings. And I am grateful I a have a different reality I can switch into where the war is not happening. I want to show how incredibly strong we are because what I described above is happening to almost each family in Israel today. Nothing will break us. I stand with Israel.

You've got 7 wonders of the world. 7 deadly sins. And me, celebrating 7 years with Luminous PR! Shocker – here are 7 things that might have surprised me along my journey...   1. 🙏 I was finally able to let down my walls to show my true vulnerable self. And the sky didn’t fall in, ‘Chicken Licken’. Picking the right time and right people is key to getting this right. I have never in my working life formed such a safe, trusting and respectful bond as I have with my partner in crime Kirsty Jarvis. She sits at the top of my gratitude list each and every day.   2. 😡 I have zero tolerance (maybe a bit of rage too) for Microsoft Teams. Gives me a twitch just thinking about it.   3. ✍ Communications folk are fecking smart and fearless and persistent AF. We take the most complex tech solution, digest it, chew it up and spit it out into accessible stories, getting them in front of the right people to help you achieve your goals. No tech is too tough for the Luminous crew to chew. Even me - that's a surprise too;) Though our head of editorial Jennifer Hood is the master!   4. 🍑 I get really grumpy if I don’t shift my butt during the work day - concentration levels, productivity, happiness, all down the plug hole. Yahdy yahdy yah - we’ve all heard it, prioritising your health makes a difference. Shouldn’t be a surprise. But when you finally ‘get it’ it’s like a slap in the face with an ice cold squid 🦑   5. 😞 This is a sad one… There’s way too many sub-standard PRs out there nowadays who have burned both clients and journalists alike. It makes everyone cautious, to the point that clients sometimes miss out on the real benefits PR can help them achieve. Not saying we're better than the rest, there’s always room for growth. - But we do work to standards and with integrity, transparency and honesty. - We do adhere to comms rules. - And we do deliver on our promise.   6. ⭐ Performing at the top of your game while going through perimenopause is really shit. And it’s not talked about enough. I’ve mentioned brain fog before on here. It’s real. It’s debilitating. And we don’t take a single day off, just ‘plough through’. Enough. Flexible working policies should allow you time and space to be both an outstanding player and a woman who is navigating change. 💪 Kudos to us at Luminous for taking flexibility seriously.   7. 😻 Tech Clients - with all your crazy, quirky, idiosyncratic ways and ideas - might drive us secretly round the twist, but boy, we LOVE it and you make it all worthwhile. Each and every client that comes to us comes armed with an idea, a story, passion, a promise of making positive differences. We are lucky to be invited along for part of the journey. As I celebrate my 11 year anniversary at ITA Group, Inc. today, I’m thinking about two recent instances where our 11 year old daughter was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up and her reply was “Sales, I want to be an Account Executive.” (Cue the big smile from me!) I told some of my colleagues this and they were amazed that someone so young wanted to be in sales or do what I do. I do have moments where I feel like this type of amazing career is a bit of a secret. It made me wonder if kids know how great a career in sales can be, if they know what is needed to be successful and the benefits? Here are 11 thoughts (please add to the list), and here’s also a picture of “back in the early days” when my daughter pulled up a chair, desk, and computer to help me with my work. 1. Rewards outweigh the risks (creates wealth in a number of ways) 2. Relationships, results for clients, being of service 3. Leadership and expertise 4. Confidence, passion, and grit 5. Problem solving, consultative 6. “Get oxygen” from those big wins and great meetings 7. Strong communicator and sense of humor 8. Solution selling, each client is different 9. Both individual and team success 10. Quick with numbers, handling objections 11. Recognition and rewards as a Top Perfomer (financially and opportunity to travel the world) *Start ‘em young! If you love what you do, they will want to do that too!

Happy 8th Work Anniversary PAL Express 💙 8 THINGS over 8 YEARS 1. Believe in Yourself - many people will question your credibility but do not ever lose faith in yourself. 2. Patience is a Virtue as well as Humility - there is really power in waiting, you gain experience over time that will mold you into greatness but once you’re there, always remember humility is the name of the game. 3. Failure - everyday is a new learning experience, do not dwell on failures always look for the opportunity to improve. Always remember, there’s no failure only delayed success. 4. Friends and Colleagues - choose the people around you wisely because they will significantly impact your potential and how successful you become, know the difference between the two. 5. Build the Right Team - no one is an expert on everything, we need to assemble a great team, trust and nurture all our brightest team members because they will help you achieve everything. 6. Have a Support Team - there’s gonna be many steps and challenges along the length to the point where sometimes you just wanna quit and give up, but these people will drive you and will let you remember to always go back to the passion. 7. Always Aspire to Inspire - the best legacy you can left behind is that you made a difference and had something in somebody’s life. 8. Be Grateful - greatness is one thing but expressing gratitude for the greatness of all things is also something. Always have a thankful heart.

When things get hard… This is what it actually means: 1. You are doing something that’s meaningful to you. 2. Success will taste a lot better later. 3. You are getting a training on handling hard for when it gets hardER. 4. You get an opportunity to sharpen skills. 5. You get an opportunity to realign yourself with your true values. 6. You got an opportunity to cut down on distractions. 7. You got an opportunity to create great memories (this one day is going to be the ‘good old days’). 8. You got a great opportunity to learn something new about yourself. This is what it actually means among other cool things. My LinkedIn network is reminding me today is my work anniversary. So this is the perspective I'd like to share with you. When it gets hard, that's one of the main ingredients for magic to happen. So, take it the way it comes!
