For anyone interested in the experience of a lifetime

On October 14th, 16 of us from across Newton Europe are taking on the challenge of climbing Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, to raise critical funds and awareness in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. #StopMS Please support us and the MS Society by donating at: https://lnkd.in/eQvpKQTr We were inspired to take on the challenge by Sara Weller, a long-time friend of Newton, inspirational business leader and EDI & disability champion. Sara was diagnosed with MS in 2009 and has since gone on to really challenge perceptions of disability in the boardroom. Outside of the boardroom, Sara has fundraised over a quarter of a million pounds for MS research this year - to learn more about Sara's journey, visit https://lnkd.in/eCEYhVjc Alongside Sara, in the UK alone, 130,000 people are living with MS every day. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. The unrelenting progression of MS can be physically and emotionally exhausting and there is no cure. Yet. The MS Society aims to raise £100 million to accelerate more world-leading research: new studies, vital infrastructure projects and ground-breaking clinical trials. The good news is they are over half way towards that target amount. With research progressing faster than ever before, real strides are being made to achieve the MS Society's vision of a world free from the effects of MS.

The next adventure awaits... A trip to the Grand Canyon for some "fun" and and opportunity to raise money for continued research and education towards finding a cure for Alzheimer's and ALS. Team Merriman will be heading down to the Grand Canyon this week to go rim to rim in support of Run2Revive! See below for more information on the event and the wonderful organization we are supporting! Day 1: On Saturday September 23rd Team Merriman will follow the Kaibab trail from the south rim, down into the canyon, and up the north rim. Total Distance- 22 miles Total Descent - 5,000 vertical feet Total Ascent - 6,000 vertical feet Total fun - Unlimited (for those who partake in this brand of "fun")   Day 2: Team Merriman will roll (or crawl) out of bed and head back into the canyon heading back to the South rim along the Bright Angel Trail. Some stats for those keeping track.. Total Distance - 24 miles Total Descent - 6,000 vertical feet Total Ascent - 5,001 vertical feet (don't forget that final step) Total Fun - That sweet, sweet sense of accomplishment (and the warm meal & cold beverage that follows) This event is sponsored by Run2Revive, an organization with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and ALS. Their mission statement reads “We run for those that have had their mind or body taken from them. Thank you #osn2024 for selecting me as a speaker this year! I'm excited to tell the story of my startup journey. If you're an aspiring entrepreneur, working on your own startup, or wondering how it all works, this presentation is intended to share with you everything I wish I knew before I started.

I believe that setting and working towards goals is an integral part of career progression. This year one of my goals is to complete a 2-day event in September. Day 1 will be 22 miles with about 6,000 feet of elevation and Day 2 will be 24 miles and about 5,000 feet of elevation. One of the reasons that I chose Rim2Rim is because 90% of the proceeds raised in this event go Alzheimer’s and ALS research. Those two devastating neurodegenerative disorders will continue to threaten to take the minds and bodies from so many of us. While fighting Alzheimer’s and ALS is very important, the other reason I’m doing this event is because I want to try to: 1. Inspire others to reach new limits. We are NEVER too old to challenge ourselves to move beyond our perceived limits. 2. Promote the importance of mind and body wellness. I’ve made brain health, sleep, and cognitive enhancement a priority for me in 2024. We all have causes that are near-and-dear to our hearts, but I've tried to think about something that can also build awareness and potentially drive people to consider prevention techniques. We are all bombarded with requests for donations. I also know that many people have been recently impacted by downsizing. So please don’t give it a second thought if you do not or cannot donate. However, if you have a few dollars please consider donating to a very positive cause that could impact many of our friends and family in the future.

Let's face it. Concrete isn't considered sexy or glamorous, but try to go a day without interfacing with it on some level. Odds are, your house sits on a concrete foundation. If you drive, you'll traverse concrete at some point during the day. It's a necessity for everyday, modern life. In the case of Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium, it's top priority. Due to modifications of FAA regulations and TUL runway improvements, TASM lost regular access to the runup area at the end of Runway 18R. That put a major barrier in place when it comes to regularly hosting visiting aircraft. If you've been to TASM, or any other museum or air show for that matter, you'll know how inspiring it is to tour a vintage warbird or learn the history of a specific aircraft. Maybe you've been able to take a ride in one of the incredible airplanes that have visited recently. How many kids do you know that light up when they see an airplane? How cool is it to inspire the next generation to pursue a life in aerospace? Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium has become close to our hearts. Where else besides Iran can you look inside an open cockpit F-14? It's an incredible place that honors the past and inspires the future. Earlier this year we approached the museum with the intent to tell their story...free of charge. This is the first of a few videos we're working on that tells just a small portion of their story and highlights their most pressing need. Please share this and help get their word out.
