Chelsea learn asking price for in-form 25-year-old attacker they have followed closely: Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season. A report from the Mirror claims that Chelsea are keen on the player and representatives from the Premier League club have been monitoring the 25-year-old striker’s performances closely. They are expected to make a move for him at the end of the season and Sporting CP will demand a fee of around £68.5 million for the striker. Chelsea are going through financial difficulties right now and there have been rumours that they could look to sell some key players in order to balance the books. It will be interesting to see if they can afford £68.5 million for the Swedish international striker. Gyokeres is one of the best strikers in Europe right now and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Blues. The Swedish striker has 37 goals and 14 assist in all competitions this season. The 25-year-old will certainly be tempted to join a top club in the summer and opportunity to join Chelsea will be an attractive proposition for him. However, the asking price could complicate matters. Arsenal are keen on signing the striker as well and the Gunners will certainly be in a better position financially to get the deal done. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Chelsea are currently going through a rough patch and they will be hoping to finish as high as possible in the table. They are currently in the mid table positions and their performances have been quite mediocre. Newcastle United Striker Could Be On His Way Out In The Summer https://ift.tt/EUZDNs3 Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson could leave the club come the summer as his agents are on the lookout for a new club, according to footballtransfers.com. The Magpies have called off their striker search due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) concerns, but there is still a chance that Wilson may depart. Why Might Wilson Leave? It is believed that the 32-year-old might part ways with the Magpies in the summer transfer window after an injury-riddled season which has only seen him score eight goals. According to footballtransfer.com, Wilson’s representatives are still on the lookout for a new club after he was close to a loan move to Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window. The Englishman’s contract expires in 2025, which means unless Wilson signs a new deal, Newcastle may look to sell him rather than risk losing their number nine on a free at the end of next season. Wilson signed from Bournemouth in 2020 for a fee believed to be in the region of around £20 million. He is thought to have fallen down Newcastle’s pecking order after Alexander Isak’s impressive season which has seen him score 17 goals in the Premier League. The 32-year-old has started just 11 games in all competitions this season with his last feature being a 3-2 away win to Nottingham Forest on the 10th of February. Wilson sustained a pectoral injury in this game but is now back in full training with the hope of being in the squad for Newcastle’s next game against Crystal Palace on Wednesday. What Is Newcastle United’s Transfer Strategy For The Summer? Even though signing a new striker has been pushed to the side, Newcastle are currently prioritising signing a right-winger and a right-sided centre-back at this moment in time. The North-East club do face issues with FFP, but they are hoping to bolster their right-hand-side with Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville being a rumoured target. There might also be a need to make additions to the defence after the club confirmed that captain Jamal Lascelles had suffered a rupture to the ACL in his right knee which sees him sidelined for a considerable period. Will Wilson continue at Newcastle next season, or will the 32-year-old be playing his football elsewhere? <p>The post Newcastle United Striker Could Be On His Way Out In The Summer first appeared on The Deck.</p> Henry Tomkins Read More At Look Sports Media

Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for experienced midfield duo: Mikel Arteta plans to reshape Arsenal’s midfield and he is willing to let Thomas Partey and Jorginho leave the club this month. According to Football Insider, the Gunners are interested in listening to offers for the central midfielders and if the offer can meet their valuation, they will be looking to sell Partey and Jorginho. After their heavy spending last summer, Arsenal are expected to sell players this month to balance their books. Arsenal signed Declan Rice from West Ham in the summer and because of the Englishman, opportunities for Jorginho and Partey have been limited, although the African midfielder has spent a huge amount of the season on the sidelines because of an injury. The Ghana international midfielder has only featured in four games for Arsenal this season, playing a total 251 minutes of football. Jorginho has appeared in 11 Premier League games and five Champions League games for the Gunners this season, but most of his appearances have come from the bench. The Italian has played a total of 832 minutes this season. Arsenal will be active in the transfer market yet again and incomings and outgoings can both be expected. Arteta is aiming to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title and to turnaround their season after recent poor results, he plans to make some big decisions this month. Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League having been top of the table just ten days ago. They will be hoping to go better than last season when they finished runners-up to Man City in the league. Fulham face competition from Napoli and fellow Premier League club for Arsenal star: Fulham are set to face competition from Napoli and Aston Villa for the signing of Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal, according to reports. The Cottagers have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old recently and are understood to be making him their ‘priority target’ this summer. Smith Rowe is likely to seek a move away from his boyhood club this summer as he finds himself behind Martin Odegaard in the battle to be Arsenal’s starting attacking midfielder. Although disrupted by injury, Smith Rowe was limited to just 13 Premier League appearances last season, while only four of his 19 outings across all competitions came from the start. Nevertheless, Smith Rowe’s 2021/22 Premier League campaign where he notched 10 goals and two assists still lives fresh in the memory and there’s no doubt the three-time England international could yet become a star if given consistent minutes. Fulham to face competition for Smith Rowe signature Although Marco Silva is keen to add Smith Rowe to his attacking unit, it may be tough for the Cottagers to convince the midfielder to make the move. According to a report from talkSPORT, Italian giants Napoli are looking to bring Smith Rowe on board as part of their summer rebuild after dropping to 10th in Serie A just a year after winning the title. Aston Villa are also understood to be admirers of Smith Rowe, although they would have to sell players first in order to fund any summer spending. But if Unai Emery can offload some squad members, there’s no doubt he will hold an edge in negotiations given he can offer Champions League football. Smith Rowe also made nine appearances for Arsenal during Emery’s tenure across the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns, scoring three goals. Part 2 of the Bargain transfer series, Left-backs! Maxim De Cuyper is an emerging star from the Belgian league and has been selected for the Belgian national team for the first time for the upcoming Euros. Even though this is his first time with the national team, expect him to get crucial minutes this summer because he is the only natural left-back in their squad. In the past 10 years, Belgium has always struggled to have quality fullbacks but Maxim De Cuyper can prove to be the solution for them. He’s played in 4 different positions this season (LWB, LB, CB, and RB) but he excels most when he is a left-wing-back and is allowed to go forward and be a part of the attack. This season in the Belgian league including the playoffs he had 13 assists and 4 goals, also 65% of his shots have come from inside of the box, showing how attacking he can be at times. In this sense, he is a very similar player to what Marcos Alonso was at Chelsea, but faster and with better defensive numbers. The table below delves into his stats by highlighting them with percentile numbers. Percentile shows how well he performs in a certain stat compared to other players in the same position. This helps highlight areas in his game where he strives or could be better at by giving context. As we can see from his stats he excels at attacking especially in his passing numbers. His pass accuracy could be better, but this is because he is more adventurous with his passes, which ultimately leads to better chances. While his defensive numbers aren’t the best, he does have the tools to be a better defender at a height of 6’0”, he is also very explosive off the ball. I believe these numbers will come up slowly over time with more muscle gain and better coaching. Juventus who are having some financial problems currently and need a new left-wing-back, could benefit from a cheaper transfer like this or if Rayan Ait Nouri were to leave Wolves this summer he would be a great replacement there as well.

Netherlands vs. England: EURO 2024 Semi-Final Match Preview, Team Updates, Scorers, and Statistics Date: Wednesday, July 10th, 2024 Time: 8:00 PM Venue: Signal Iduna Park Referee: Felix Zwayer (Germany) Netherlands and England are set to clash in the EURO 2024 Semi-Final at Signal Iduna Park. The Dutch team faces a crucial decision in attack, with Wout Weghorst's impactful substitute performance in the quarter-final prompting consideration for a starting role alongside Memphis Depay. Manager Ronald Koeman, committed until 2026, may opt for Weghorst to continue as a super-sub, given Depay and Cody Gakpo's significant involvement in 63.5% of Netherlands' goal attempts this tournament. Expected to maintain continuity, Koeman is likely to field Bart Verbruggen in goal, Virgil van Dijk leading from central defense, and Xavi Simons linking midfield and attack. Meanwhile, England anticipates the return of Luke Shaw, their sole specialist left-back, fully recovered from injury. The defensive lineup, potentially featuring Marc Guehi or Ezri Konsa, remains a strategic consideration for Gareth Southgate, possibly adjusting between three or four defenders or a hybrid formation. Harry Kane, recovering from cramp, aims to add to his five-goal tally in EURO 2024 knockout stages, equalling the record with Antoine Griezmann. Prediction: Netherlands 2-1 England (after extra time)

Oxford United Set Sights On League Two Midfielder https://ift.tt/bskExZz Oxford United are reportedly keen to secure the signing of League Two Barrow midfielder Dean Campbell, according to Football Scotland. The former Aberdeen midfielder joined the Bluebirds in the summer on a permanent deal from Aberdeen upon the expiry of his contract. Prior to this, he had helped Steve Evans’ Stevenage side achieve promotion to League One last season making 26 appearances before his return to Scotland. Since his move to Barrow, he has appeared 36 times, scoring on three occasions and securing an average rating of 6.65 on the football statistics website Whoscored. This ranking puts him ahead of fan favourites such as Ben Whitfield in the Barrow squad. What does the report say about Oxford United‘s interest? The publication claims that representatives for the 22-year-old are holding talks with the League One side after impressing new Oxford United boss Des Buckingham with his form. Any move would require a fee to be paid as the midfielder signed a two-year contract when linking up with the League Two club. QPR Monitoring Non-League Midfielder A good move for Campbell? The move was somewhat of a coup for Barrow, who have been impressive in the transfer market this season signing the likes of Cole Stockton and James Chester. But the opportunity to play in the third tier or possibly the Championship could be too good an opportunity to turn down. Barrow do still have an opportunity to gain promotion to League One, however, it is becoming increasingly likely that it may have to be through the play-offs rather than automatically. Stockport, Mansfield, Wrexham, Crewe Alexandra and MK Dons look to be battling for the top three slots. Two of the above will have to settle for a spot in the play offs and with just 10 points separating 6th to 16th and 10/11 games remaining for the majority of teams it could come down to the wire with more twists and turns guaranteed. Should Barrow gain promotion it could tempt him to remain with Pete Wild’s side, especially if Oxford United remain in League One, but the chance to battle at the top end of the table or in the second tier may mean Oxford be his likely destination. <p>The post Oxford United Set Sights On League Two Midfielder first appeared on LSM Sports.</p> Ryan Whelan Read More At Look Sports Media

Agressive when disputing the ball. Regarding the offensive process he´s very active, like to assume the risk, the initiative to take the ball in vertical or diagonal movements, demonstrating good ball control at high speed movement. While conducting the ball he create uncertainty in the opponent player who follo him because he can often choose to run from the left corridor to the central corridor instead of doing the most predictable and safe choice that is running with the ball in a vertical trajectory. When crossing the ball it´s obvious that they are intent for a specific target/colleague positioned inside the penalty area. With a low center of gravity and having speed it´s a player that it´s hard to be overcome by the opponent who have the ball possession Leagues suitable for his level: top table clubs from Ligue 1(France); La Liga (Spain). 5 Reasons Why Arsenal Should Sign Ivan Toney This Summer – Opinion https://ift.tt/uw4xqX8 According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Ivan Toney could be available for as little as £30-40m this summer, despite previous reports claiming Brentford wanted £100m for their star striker. This has alerted many Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, as we make the case for why the Gunners should sign him this summer… Price tag slashed If reports are to believed, Brentford have slashed their original asking price for Toney in January by more than half, making him a very viable option at potentially just £30m. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is £42.7m, which means Arsenal could get a bargain by signing him. The guaranteed goals Arsenal need Toney has scored four goals in 13 games for Brentford this season since returning from an eight-month gambling ban, which is not a bad ratio considering his lack of match sharpness. In the previous campaign, he managed 20 Premier League goals, an impressive tally for a player relatively new to top-flight football. Arsenal’s top scorer in the league this term is Bukayo Saka with 14, with no other Gunner reaching double figures. In terms of their strikers, Kai Havertz has only scored four playing as a centre-forward, while Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have just nine league goals between them. The North Londoners have been criticised for lacking a “killer” striker, and Toney could be that man. Different type of threat Toney is a different type of striker to what Arsenal have got, in the respect that he is more physical than the likes of Jesus and Nketiah at over 6ft tall. He has won more aerial duels per league game (3.6) than Jesus, Nketiah and even Havertz, who is no slouch at 6ft 4. Despite his size, Toney is also technically gifted, as the Gunners got a glimpse of when he almost caught out Aaron Ramsdale with an outrageous long-range volley during Brentford’s 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium in March. He is also an elite penalty taker, scoring 30/32 in his career, and would offer a settled option for Arsenal, who have switched up their takers before. England international Toney being an England international helps boost the homegrown quota. Aaron Ramsdale may be moved on this summer after losing his place to David Raya, and if Arsenal sign an attacker, fringe players like Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe may also be sold. Toney would also be familiar with the likes of Saka and Declan Rice having played with them at international level, and would help grow chemistry on the pitch. Betting ban behind him Toney seems to have put his betting ban behind him now, and is fully focused on football. In a previous interview, he claimed he was in “better shape” than before the ban, and is “quite strong” mentally. At 28 years old, Toney is in the prime of his career, and Arsenal could sign him just at the right time. <p>The post 5 Reasons Why Arsenal Should Sign Iv...

NEW DELHI: <!-- -->Rasmus Hojlund<!-- --> wasted no time making an impact, scoring twice early on to lead <!-- -->Manchester United<!-- --> to a thrilling 2-1 victory against Luton Town in the <!-- -->Premier League<!-- --> on Sunday, bringing them closer to the top four contention.The Danish striker capitalized on a defensive lapse to give United the lead just 37 seconds into the match, before doubling the advantage only seven minutes later to firmly establish his team’s dominance.Despite Luton’s spirited response, with Carlton Morris’s courageous header narrowing the margin in the 14th minute, the match remained surprisingly goal-shy considering the opportunities both sides created in an open game.Manchester United, currently in sixth place, squandered numerous clear-cut chances in the second half, while Luton’s Ross Barkley came close to equalizing with a header against the crossbar in stoppage time.With this fourth consecutive league victory, Manchester United now sit on 44 points from 25 matches, trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by five points. !(function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) { function loadFBEvents(isFBCampaignActive) { if (!isFBCampaignActive) { return; } (function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) { if (f.fbq) return; n = f.fbq = function() { n.callMethod ? n.callMethod(...arguments) : n.queue.push(arguments); }; if (!f._fbq) f._fbq = n; n.push = n; n.loaded = !0; n.version = '2.0'; n.queue = []; t = b.createElement(e); t.async = !0; t.defer = !0; t.src = v; s = b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(t, s); })(f, b, e, 'https://lnkd.in/d-eUnHGy', n, t, s); fbq('init', '593671331875494'); fbq('track', 'PageView'); }; function loadGtagEvents(isGoogleCampaignActive) { if (!isGoogleCampaignActive) { return; } var id = document.getElementById('toi-plus-google-campaign'); if (id) { return; } (function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) { t = b.createElement(e); t.async = !0; t.defer = !0; t.src = v; t.id = 'toi-plus-google-campaign'; s = b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(t, s); })(f, b, e, 'https://lnkd.in/d_uP4Cr7', n, t, s); }; function loadSurvicateJs(allowedSurvicateSections = []){ const section = window.location.pathname.split('/')[1] const isHomePageAllowed = window.location.pathname === '/' && allowedSurvicateSections.includes('homepage') if(allowedSurvicateSections.includes(section) || isHomePageAllowed){ (function(w) { var s = document.createElement('script'); s.src="https://lnkd.in/da8ve3_s"; s.async = true; var e =
