Working in the NHS is hard
It always has been.
It’s unfair, unforgiving and often unkind.
It’s also inspiring, amazing and utterly beautiful in its own way- the phenomenal impact of care
We are stood at the edge of a precarious ledge.
Money or quality.
We have been here before on multiple occasions in the last three decades…
You are going to say we can have both… but can we really in the face of extreme demand in MH LD services which is independently confirmed.
We are seeing the same patterns all over the world, not just in the UK can we have both?
Is this next stage we are entering into foreseeable and preventable?
I will retire and I will not be here to see the full ramifications play out over the next decade.
I fear for our future MH leaders, this outcome without intelligent targeted intervention now, will be the toughest period in our history.
I am not sure we are modelling what could happen, if our demand spirals on this current trajectory?
I am so sorry to paint a picture of doom, but my words are to convey “car crash ahead” change before we can’t…..
Let’s please stay on the side of nurturing, effective and life saving care and the beauty of the NHS at its best
