Great balanced post from Charnwood stoves Just to add to it woodburning is carbon neutral by default as the wood when growing as a tree absorbs the co2 in the atmosphere. This same co2 is released when burnt , if it wasn’t burnt it would be released by natural decomposition, so why not benefit from using the energy captured by the tree to heat your home By burning efficiently, which will end up meaning you burn less, anyway you gain heat with minor emissions or smoke nuisance as you will be burning most of the fuel inside the stove . So by having an efficient stove correctly installed with an efficient chimney system , while having it regularly serviced by a qualified professional chimney sweep who can help you understand how to get the cleanest and most efficient use of the appliance and fuel , will benefit you and your pocket 😎
It is sometimes easy to lose our sense of reality but as Dr Johannes Hartl says: ‘Reality is the wall you run into if you have been chasing an illusion’! Our article on why common sense should guide the wood burning debate: https://lnkd.in/gA4-fsTR

Good Day!! Tis’ the season for shopping and squeezing those last meetings of the year in before all disappear during the December holidays to not reappear until January of the next year. Overall, it is surprisingly busy with this coming week as the last fully productive one before offices begin to empty where ‘out of office’ replies are the only responses to your emails and all the unhealthy snacks pile up in the office kitchen (or home office) tempting your will-power. Good luck for those trying to limit sugar intake, it’s a tough time of year. For this week's articles, I’ve selected a fun one, a serious one and a potentially polarizing one. Serious first – the US has shown a quick switch from no exporting of crude oil to being a player in the export market. Fun next – McDonald’s is exploring the creation of a new coffee chain; stateside only, for now. Polarizing for last – the O&G exploration and production side of the industry has had an emissions cap draft sent out. Whether it gets made into law is yet to be determined but the concept has stirred many views which is where I have attempted to give some non-inflammatory views. Of note, PanAm Energy’s offering sees the long-term future for O&G is to wind down therefore it is targeting only lands that have been previously explored where technological advances allow for focused drilling and in turn give a more probable production. Further, as part of PanAm Energy’s recognition of the need for alternative energy sources, the firm has committed to invest portions of its profits in those new energy solutions such as Lithium and Cobalt. Lastly, as noted previously, I have been working on answering the reader question of: “What is the return-on-investment (“ROI”) potential for Government of Canada’s ownership of Trans Mountain Pipeline?” I’ve put out a few more pages since last week with the goal of finalizing the report before year end. They are located on Rhythm Capital’s website under ‘Research Papers’ [https://lnkd.in/g4sCByys]. It's an honor to have my paper published in this semester's issue of the George Wythe Review. I argue that artificial, government-induced biofuel production harms both fisheries and the environment in the Gulf of Mexico. I contend that the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) alone artificially increases the Gulf's dead zone by 350 square miles annually and causes a half-billion dollars in annual economic damages. Environmental regulations often spark controversy due to the inherent trade-off between environmental protection and economic interests. Policies that fail to serve either goal should be re-evaluated or discarded. Special thanks to Dr. Haynes, the APP board, and the team at George Wythe. 🌊 Introducing the Ocean Policy Maker Toolbox 🌊 🔍 Bridging Science and Policy Excited to launch our Ocean Policy Maker Toolbox, a unique tool for improving the science-policy discourse. It's a form of “Knowledge Brokerage”, translating research into actionable insights for policy makers. In its generic design and structure, we can - in collaborative development with scientists - package practically any topic from the research - policy making nexus (and of course not only from the field of ocean policy). 🤝 We Need Your Input! 🤝 Join us in refining this innovative toolkit. Share your thoughts in our questionnaire linked below. Your feedback is crucial for our collaborative development. 🔗marine-policy.net 🔗 #OceanPolicy #KnowledgeBrokerage #enablinglearning
