The LEDucationNYC results are in! We interviewed dozens of lighting industry leaders at LEDucationNYC this week and asked them to identify the major trends shaking up the industry. Here's what they told us: 💡 Miniaturization → Smaller aperture lights that blend more seamlessly into their surroundings → Reducing aperture to limit glare, especially in downlights 🔧 Maintainability & Repairability → Improve accessibility to lighting fixtures, modules, and drivers so that they're easier to install, repair, and replace → Increase product lifespan to 10+ years 🧩 Modularity → Lighting systems that can be easily adapted during the design phase or in the field → More plug-and-play systems that are easy to install, replace, or upgrade over time 🤝 Industry consolidation → Increased M&A activities to consolidate manufacturers and distributors across the industry → Current generation of owners opting to sell their business vs. passing it down 🌲 Sustainability → Limit carbon foot-print through circularity and waste reduction → Experimenting with new materials → Provide end users with more insights on energy efficiency and usage ⚙ Controls → Products that are controls-agnostic, able to plug and play into many control systems → Better optimization of lumen and CRI output Huge shoutout to everyone who participated and contributed their insights!
