Construction Manufacturing Advisor @ ICG | Industrialized Construction Group

The rise of Industrialized Construction marks a pivotal shift towards a manufacturing mindset, impacting every level of construction companies' organizational structure. We’ve identified key roles within this transformation for fabrication and construction manufacturing. Which of these roles do you currently hold? How are these evolving roles changing your companies' job descriptions and skills matrices? Who is still throwing old roles at new ways of working? These new production roles cut across traditional construction processes - changing our precon, VDC, field and PM roles too. It’s easy to underestimate the impact of adding these new key roles, and how much they might change someone else's role. At ICG - Industrialized Construction Group we are working with our clients and partners to customize, adapt, and integrate these roles into the organization. We'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences - if there is enough discussion and interest, we'll convene a cross-industry discussion forum. #industrializedconstruction #icroles #orgdesign Amy Marks Melissa McEwen Matt Schreier Marc Paolicelli Fouad Khalil Pete Majewski Cooper Lane Ryan Moorman Brandon Gries Bridget Joseph, Fitwel Amb. Excellent points! It can be overwhelming for a company to think they need to create openings or new job titles, very important to remember that this doesn't always mean expansion. Many of the skills may already exist on the team, it's a matter of organizing the appropriate roles and responsibilities.

Great points! Nick Masci where might you put sales and permitting? While they aren’t new roles per say, the way they influence the overall org does change, and having them report to the correct business unit is important. In IC, tracking what’s in the pipeline becomes a more critical piece for balancing volume and timeline, which can make or break a factory.

Great visualization Nick Masci. One concept that has been getting workshopped in some industry discussions I have had as well have concerned the possibility of two centers of excellence for "product design and engineering", one lead role and center of excellence for getting programs launched with clients and a totally separate engineering center of excellence during product lifecycle management. The KPIs, processes, etc. are very distinct in these two realms.
