Right now, about 1.4 billion people worldwide remain unbanked—that’s 1.4 billion excluded from the global financial system. This gap is more than a missed opportunity for economic growth; it cuts off access to essential services, stifles entrepreneurship, and deepens inequality, especially in developing economies. I had the privilege of moderating a panel during UNGA at Concordia's Annual Summit to discuss financial inclusion in the digital age with Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Graham Macmillan, Mike Piwowar and Tarek Mouganie, PhD.

It was a pleasure to moderate a panel today on global trade and supply chain innovations at Concordia Summit in New York Ctiy with His Excellency Luis Abinader, president of the Dominican Republic and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World.

It's been a busy week on Wall Street. Fresh projections from the Federal Reserve that the US economy will see three interest rate cuts before the year is out have sent stocks soaring. All three major indexes — the S&P 500, blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average and tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite — reached record highs on both Wednesday and Thursday. The Dow is now just points away from reaching a key threshold, the 40,000-level, for the first time in its 128-year history. Stocks are more subdued in Friday trading, but investors on Wall Street are still likely chilling champagne bottles as they prepare to close out one of the strongest weeks of the year for markets. The last time American finance was operating in a high-inflation, high-interest rate environment, like the current economy, was nearly 40 years ago. That means most current executives, who came up in the era of easy money, are unfamiliar with the complexities of running a bank under today’s conditions. As the top brass at financial institutions start to accept that interest rates will likely be higher for longer, they’re scrambling to find leaders with the skills to succeed in such an unpredictable environment. Some CEOs are deciding that they need to make drastic, expensive and often unpopular institutional changes to help them keep up. That means it's time to restructure. Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser announced a sweeping restructuring effort last week meant to rearrange the bank’s leadership. Wells Fargo, Truist, Barclays and Goldman Sachs have recently made similar efforts. What's going on with Tupperware? Shares of the Florida-based container company have exploded by about 165% this week and more than 300% over the last month for no discernible reason. Tupperware has been in hot water for some time. Sales are on the decline and Tupperware even warned in April that it was on the brink of bankruptcy.The surge in stock price would make some sense if there was any indication that the company had begun a turnaround or found an eligible buyer, there's no evidence that either of those things have happened. So what's happening here? It appears that, like Gamestop and AMC before it, Redditors are trying to send the 77-year-old struggling business "to the moon." https://lnkd.in/ewQJGH7C
