🏛️Join the #civility pledge movement initiated by Mayor Marianne Meed Ward (C.Dir.). Details: https://lnkd.in/gAF6t7xC We pledge to: 1. Support each other and call out #abuse and #harassment when we see it or experience it; 2. Call on all our allies to stand with us to support women in office and call out all forms of abuse and harassment; 3. Call on all elected officials to uphold the highest standards of conduct, focusing on #respectful debate of the issues and not personal attacks; 4. Call on the relevant authorities to ensure the protection of individuals who speak out against abuse, or who experience abuse, providing them with the necessary support and resources.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to and signed the H.E.R. Halton pledge back in May to end harassment of women in government. We have started a movement -- with the pledge being picked up nationally by the Canadian Association of Feminist Parliamentarians! We are now working on what are our next steps and intend to open up our original H.E.R. pledge and invite any elected officials who want to sign on to reach out to my office. We will keep a rolling update, including on my website. If any elected official hasn't done so and would like to, please let us know and we'll add new names as they come in. I also encourage elected officials to reach out to their own networks of women to include anyone who wishes to participate. Learn more and read a copy of the CAFP pledge here: https://lnkd.in/gda7d5zK

Today’s International Women's Day 2024 campaign theme is 'Inspire Inclusion'. In the UK after the murders of so many women such as Brianna Ghey and Sarah Everard, and continuing failure on rape prosecutions, we can see the desperate need for change. In the UK these include: - the police. Despite progress, in 2023 just 35% of police officers are women across England and Wales, and just 32% across both Scotland and Northern Ireland. - in parliament. Despite progress, the House of Commons has just 35% of women MPs. The House of Lords is even lower at just 28%. Notably rape prosecutions are still incredibly low, and five out of six women do not even report when they are raped. Yet the law itself, and the resources allocated by government to police funding for Violence Against Women and Girls, and the time it takes to get into court (usually years) are so far short of where they need to be to tackle the horrendous actual scale of the problem. These issues and lack of representation directly impact every girl and woman in our land. For all the women already an officer in our police forces. For every woman MP. For every woman in the House of Lords. Thank you for all you do. ‘Inspire Inclusion’ calls out the need to face directly into the scale of the problem that still stares us in the face every day, and actually fix it. It’s 2024 and the need for change is significant, immediate, and should already have been delivered. It’s time. Women shouldn’t own property. They’re inferior & aren’t capable. Pardon our language… but F*CK that. Can you believe that this used to be the norm? The LAW? Today is International Women Day. Today we celebrate how far we have ALL come as we may not all be women, but we ALL have mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, close female colleagues and friends- and we all should want to promote a world that values equality. In 2024, here is what we as a society who promotes equality need to celebrate in terms of what women now represent: -62% of realtors -61.9% of property management -83.6% of escrow officers -83.9% of interior designers -AND single women homebuyers now have 10.95 million homes, while single men own 8.24 million What a change!!! Here’s to all the women before us who experienced hardship, to all the men and women who fought to change this, and to all the badass females who are proving that equality should exist. 💕 #women #bossbabes #bossbabesunite #womeninternationalday #equality #badasswomen

"Personal Brand Evangelist" 🐝 I help Leaders, Founders, and Business Owners to digitalize their presence by becoming "The voice" in their industry.
For generations, women have faced labels like ‘crazy’ or ‘overly emotional’ whenever they speak out against injustice. These dismissive tags are used to silence, discredit, and diminish their voices. But we refuse to be silenced any longer. To every woman who has been called ‘too much’ for standing up for herself or others, know this: your voice matters. Your experiences are powerful. We are here to amplify your stories, not diminish them. Our goal is to build a world where women's voices are heard loud and clear. A world where challenging the status quo is seen as a strength, not a weakness. A world where respect, equality, and justice aren’t optional, but essential. Together, we’ll continue to confront the systems that perpetuate discrimination and sexism. We will not back down until women can live, speak, and lead without fear of judgment or rejection. This is more than a fight—it's a movement for real change. We rise together, not just to demand justice but to create it. -

Human-centered Leadership Coach | Keynote Speaker | Wellness Consultant Building adult cultures we don't need to heal from | Retaining educators through identity-forward programs
She told me development work could be fun. 👀 I said prove it and she has. When Julie Ordoñez started partnering with The Teaching Well we began a journey of self-exploration and strategic planning. The hustle can sometimes have us forget that we aren't just fundraising to close the gap, to build the reserve, to expand on benefits offerings. We work here and we want to be just as well as we hope to get our clients. We deserve joy and stability. 🗣 Beyond that, our fiscal solvency ensures the often marginalized and unheard BIPOC educators and leaders we serve, have an organization that represents them. Understands them. Heals alongside them. 💡 It's not "we have to" anymore with development work. It's "we get to and we know how to do it authentically." That matters. Would love to hear your feedback, any key takeaways, or portions of the discussion that resonated. Spreading the Word to Give People the Benefit of the Doubt and Remember that Politicians are People, Just Like You | Author | Speaker | Recovering Politician | Children, Youth & Animal Advocate
Is this happening more and more these days? Or are we just seeing women take a stand and not take it anymore? “Ask any woman who has been in a position of authority or visibility if they have an experience of the system shrugging its shoulders and reassuring them that they probably aren’t at risk of physical violence from that creepy cyber-stalker/emailer/disgruntled former employee. They’ll have one. Or more.” My book talks about this. And more. https://lnkd.in/g5jyKBFP

“The study of women in politics now is less about understanding the intricacies of nomination contests and more about documenting and theorizing the gender-based violence women in politics experience.”
