GoodRx shouldn't exist It works because the system is so dysfunctional Here's how it works: GoodRx aggregates PBM rates Customers filling prescriptions use GoodRx discount cards to access "better," "cash" rates at the pharmacy Pharmacies pay for the privilege of making less money by cutting in the PBM and GoodRx It's demand aggregation arbitrage But, like any good healthtech company, it's in a pinch GoodRx FY 2023: $750M revenue ($27M) ops loss ($8.9M) income loss But as always it's about the cash too $138M cash from operations But despite the cash generation, look at share price: $9.05 per share today $56.63 per share Feb. 2021 Nonetheless, GoodRx, a discount card rate aggregator has made $750M off a dysfunctional system It's not been great for shareholders And It's not great for the healthcare system Although, I would argue it is good for patients (though it shouldn't have to be) If you want to see why it's not great for the system overall and why it shouldn't exist, tune in the Sunday to The Healthcare Breakdown We're bringing home our PBM series talking about GoodRx and how it all plays out in the pharmacy ecosystem Buckle up here: https://buff.ly/47NeASx See you out there!

Royal Mail-backed Charac - The Pharmacy App strikes major investment deal to accelerate global expansion Leading healthcare SaaS provider Charac has announced a ground-breaking partnership with world-class medication management platform MedAdvisor Solutions (ASX:MDR). The deal with Australia-based MedAdvisor allows Charac to expand it capabilities across Australia, New Zealand and the USA, making components of its app available to a far broader group of pharmacies internationally. This will help to drive pharmacies’ growth as well as make it easier for patients to access an expanding range of services. Under the terms of the agreement, MedAdvisor, through a strategic investment and licencing agreement, will invest up to £1 million over 9-months in Charac for up to a 7.4% shareholding, and the company’s CEO Rick Ratliff will join the Charac board as a Non-Executive Director.  MedAdvisor will end its operations in the UK, transferring its relationships to Charac, with this process expected to be completed by the second half of FY24.
