The 🏹 Counter-Fraud team at Collinson recently embarked on an internal 'Protect yourself' 🔊 campaign with bulletin #1 focussing on #identitytheft Bulletin #2 looks at the increase in #whatsapp #jobscams , where fraudsters posing as recruiters attempt to lure the public into giving away 💸 money or 💳 personal information in return for fake job offers or interviews. It refers to a recent press article published by BBC Radio 4's Money Box where an 18 year old was tricked out of £3,000. ☢ Red flags to 👀 look out for our unprofessional communications (messages from foreign numbers) and being asked for money (just think to yourself, when has a recruiter ever asked you to pay them money?). If you do receive a 📲 message, then: 1) DO some 🔎 research on the recruiter and don't be afraid to ask for their credentials and proof of work. Most recruitment agencies are registered with the Recruitment & Employment Confederation or APSCo so you can check their membership online. 2) 📵 DON'T respond to any unsolicited job offers, DON'T share personal information with anyone, DON'T click any download links, DON'T send them any money. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. How to ⌨ report a scam message: WhatsApp has lots of advice on how to protect yourself from scams on its website. Report a scam text message by forwarding it to 7726 which spells out SPAM on a keypad. If it's a spam email, forward it to report@phishing.gov.uk If you think you may have been a victim of fraud and as a result incurred a financial loss, you should report this to JobsAware and/or #ActionFraud #fraudawareness #fraud #protect

I just woke up and immediately checked my email. The first email I received in response to the jobs I applied for turned out to be from a scammer. At first, I was excited after looking for work, and someone emailed me for an interview, but when I searched about this company, I couldn't find anything. If it were a legitimate company, they should have an online presence, like a website or social media pages. All I had was their address. I searched online and found that it was listed in scam lists in a post here on LinkedIn. Thank you to those who post about scam companies, it helps everyone become more aware. Let's be more vigilant, aware, and thorough in the companies we apply to. It's important to research and review the companies we're applying to so that we have background information and to avoid wasting time, money and effort.

**Scam Alert for all Job Seekers!** I got this email (image attached below) 5 days back and it was in my spam folder along with a couple of more legitimate ones. So, I gave this email a benefit of the doubt and responded! I replied to the hiring manager's email stating my job preferences and then ultimately got this apparently 'famous' email' I did not know about. Attaching the link to the post that talks about this email as well! However, the email looked fishy to me mainly because: - it asked for some sensitive information even before the screening call - Explicitly said that the service was free So, I decided to do a quick Google search before clicking anything. Thanks to the post (given below) and another post on Reddit, I now know this was a scam email! Beware of such scams! No matter how tough the market/competition is, always keep a lookout for Scammers! #scamalert #beware #speadingawareness Linkedin Post: https://lnkd.in/gxtcNnND Snapshot of my email:
