Sharing a piece I wrote on recent Supreme Court judgment on affirmative action in the United States and how it may impact the ongoing diversity initiatives across American campuses and workplaces. Do take a glance. #affirmativeaction #scotus , #US

The moot point is that adopting AA policies is voluntary. This is because all economic activities in the USA are provided playing field protected by their Constitution. Individual enterprises (even institutions owned privately) cannot be compelled in the name of social justice or equality or such other philosophy. In India on the other hand, we can keep seats unfilled, job vacancies remain for years, etc, just because the candidate from the reserved class is not available. We can even lower the entry qualifications to admit 'disadvantaged communities' irrespective of the economic status of the candidate. Denying admission on the basis of caste (since we have no other criteria) can only be done with the so-called Forward Community, even though their number is far less than all other minority communities. Ironically, the forward community cannot even knock at the doors of the Supreme Court since the Constitution permits discrimination in the name of equality and social justice. Quite an irony. Thank you for prompting some thoughts.
