Journey Towards Frictionless Cross-Border Payments in APAC - A Realistic Aspiration? Thank you to LexisNexis Risk Solutions and Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) for organising an insightful Risk Ready 2024 roundtable yesterday in Singapore on Efficiency In Payments, superbly moderated by Reuben Lim. It was an honour to have Ho Chee Wai (何志伟), a prominent thought leader in the payments and remittances industry represent JFourth Solutions in the discussion. One of the key takeaways for me was the ongoing focus many players have on meeting regulatory requirements. TRUST was a significant topic of discussion, emphasising its importance, especially in the financial industry. Innovation is moving at a rapid pace, and as a compliance professional, I find myself constantly striving to keep up with technological advancements. While we often hear about the benefits fintechs being able to improve financial inclusion, the current offerings fall short given the challenges we constantly face. I echo Chee Wai's sentiment that our governments should prioritise cross-border transactions, especially in higher-risk corridors. Achieving this will require greater collaboration between fintechs and regulators, allowing regulators to allocate resources more effectively towards higher-risk areas, keeping our financial ecosystem safe and promoting financial inclusion. I look forward to reading the white paper, the outcome of the roundtable.
