📄 The first factsheet from the SESA Project Sustainable Energy Solutions Catalogue is dedicated to #emobility. 🚘 Sustainable #electricmobility (e-mobility) encompasses a set of solutions in which innovative #electricvehicle technologies and business models are combined to improve mobility services in cities, periurban and rural areas. Though e-mobility solutions are only recently emerging in 🌍 #Africa they are likely to play a key role in the transition to #sustainable and inclusive mobility in the region. 🔍 The factsheet focuses on light electric vehicles (#EVs) such as e-motorcycles, e-tuk-tuks or tricycles, e-bicycles, and e-cargo bikes. These are the most common types of EVs deployed in African urban and rural areas, where 2- and 3-wheeled vehicles represent an important means of #transport. Plus Energy Districts are an ambitious concept within the energy transition. AIT Austrian Institute of Technology 's research engineer Yannick Wimmer 's work and leadership got the concept closer to its implementation. Yannick was recently recognized for his multi-year long work with strategic partners and experts, which consisted of the development of a tool allowing to simplify the decision-making for plus-energy districts, getting us faster to sustainable urban energy planning. Here's an overview of #Shift2DC's participation at the Madeira Digital Transformation Summit last week! 🔎 A brief overview of the project was provided by Carlos Castro from APRAM, one of the partners involved in the 🇵🇹 Demonstrator, which will be installed at Funchal Port, the largest port on Madeira Island. 💡 The project was also part of the Workshop on “Smart, Efficient and Sustainable Energy Use” represented by #Shift2DC researcher Lucas Pereira Interactive Technologies Institute I Instituto Superior Técnico. According to the researcher it was a chance to highlight some of the project solutions, present the 4️⃣ demonstrators and “gain a brief understanding of the situation in Slovenia, which is also seeking to electrify its port (Port of Koper). The next steps involve a bilateral meeting to explore potential collaboration within the SHIFT2DC project framework.” More 🔽

This week I had the opportunity to be in Athens at #EurelectricPowerSummit2024 #LightsOn organized by #PPCGreece Although was very interesting and captivating, at the end, the message was, in fact, a very know one - #energytransition whitout #unity and strong #investments in a #resilient #PowerGrid and especially in #gridextension and #griddigitalization, is only a nice, but unfortunatelly, an unreachable objective! The #unity refers to #Europe as a whole, but the strong contribution of every country is mandatory for common porpoise. So, locally, #policymakers, #communities #authorities, #regulators, #networkoperators and #powercompanies, should be in full sinergy, giving full support and contribution in reaching the goal and porpoise of energy transition! 🌍 Municipality of The Hague & Utrecht's Energy Challenge at Synergy Hackathon:  Sustainable and Inclusive Local Energy Communities     Gemeente Den Haag Entrusted with the lead role in the energy transition by the national government, The Hague is steering the transition to clean energy. Their efforts include ensuring the availability of sustainable energy sources, assisting residents in making their homes and neighborhoods more sustainable through subsidies, actions, and advice.
