NMLA is hiring a dedicated DEI and Human Resources specialist to contribute to and support an inclusive organizational culture that centers on racial, LGBTQ+, social, and disability equity. This position will play a pivotal role in supporting our DEI initiatives for helping the organization to apply an equity lens to both NMLA's internal dynamics as well as our community-facing work, and additionally, to provide support for other HR Functions. The DEI - HR Specialist will report directly to the Human Resources Director in the Albuquerque office. The job responsibilities outlined encompass various areas focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Equitable Outreach, Ensuring Access to Services, and Human Resources Support. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Develop and implement strategies and programs related to DEI. Lead training, employee engagement, and projects centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion, covering implicit bias, racial justice, harassment prevention, disability access, and related issues. Cultivate an inclusive work culture and support the establishment of DEI and racial justice committees. Research best practices, monitor progress, and ensure accountability for identified DEI goals. Communicate with staff to identify areas for improvement and audit policies and practices related to diversity and inclusion. Collaborate across departments and programs to advance equity and inclusion internally and externally. Supporting Equitable Outreach: Assess community partnerships in line with client communities' priorities. Maintain relationships with the Board of Directors and community partners to address racial justice issues and incorporate these into the organization's work. Ensuring Access to Services: Ensure the accessibility of communications to clients and the public. Review case acceptance patterns for equity in providing legal services. Evaluate policies and practices for improved access and inclusion for clients with disabilities. Human Resources Support: Assist in job creation and posting through a DEI lens. Help evaluate and expand job posting sites. Facilitate onboarding, orientation programs for new employees, benefits enrollment, administration, and address employee inquiries. Review, update, and participate in reasonable accommodation processes, internal investigations, and organizing company events. Assist with personnel action forms and other required employee documents.
