'I will not attend the career fair - there are no companies in my field' Having this attitude you could risk of missing out on good opportunities. At Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark we host several career fairs through the year. Not only to promote internships and student jobs. We see it as a possibility for students (and companies as well) to broaden the perspectives and obtain information on competences, tasks, current agendas, regional labor market and not least to build a professional network for later. Here are three factors to make any career fair relevant and successful: 🚩Set yourself obtainable goals for attending the fair eg. 'I want to have one conversation with a company I don't know at all', or 'I want one new connection within the field of energy'. 🚩Be curious and openminded: Ask open questions that could help identify overlapping areas of interests, connections or possibilities. This requires you being interested before interesting. 🚩Follow up on the good conversations eg connect on Linkedin and thank the person for the talk. Being proactive and polite will bring you far. Use the career fair to train your networking muscle, to get information and knowledge and then you might get a bonus in the form of a job, internship etc. Signup in the SDU jobbank to see all the fairs and events you can participate as a student at SDU: sdu.jobteaser.dk At

Trainer | Social Media Manager | Content Creator | Driving Engagement & Growth Through the use of social media
Yesterday was Lagos career fair hosted by my company. The theme of the event was : Buildings Resliance and Employability skills and positioning for growth. Few things I learnt from the speakers are: - Brand yourself before people brand you. - Have a work voice - Your boss should be your mentor. Do not hide anything from your boss. - Dont be a furniture in your company. Be an asset. Contribute to the growth of the company - Read news about your industry

Connecting Students with Employers | Passionate about creating Connections, Opportunities, and Innovations
When the job market is as competitive as it is, students and job seekers need a competitive edge, which VOLUNTEERING can help with. Yes, education and experience are the most important things, but breaking into an industry or gaining relevant experience can be challenging. Volunteering with organizations aligned with your goals allows you to build valuable connections and gain relevant or transferrable experience. When applying for roles, having supervisors from your volunteering experiences as references is also invaluable. Employers and recruiters want to see how your experience is relevant or transferrable to their needs. Demonstrating relevant experience with strong references significantly boosts your chances of landing the job! Camosun College students - if you are looking to gain volunteer experience that will benefit you as you seek out co-ops or employment opportunities, check out the following events (which Thea Divinagracia has done a great job of organizing with Volunteer Victoria): - September 19 Career Fair (Interurban Campus): https://lnkd.in/g3CzyB_V - October 10 Career Fair (Lansdowne Campus): https://lnkd.in/gK22mg8A To those in Nanaimo, make sure to check out the Career Fair that Joel Hampson and the VIU Career Studio are hosting at VIU this Friday (September 13): https://lnkd.in/grCzxY6q 📸 Photo by Tim Mossholder on Unsplash

Hult Prize Campus Director @USIU-A| Pharmacy student💊| Global Health Advocate | YOUNGO Climate Justice Advocate | Public Speaker | Feminist
The IPSF - International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation Career Fair & Exhibition has concluded, and I'm thrilled to have had the chance to speak during the Closing Ceremony. #IPSFCFE2024 was more than just an event—it was an eye-opening experience that showcased the vast possibilities within the pharmacy field. 🌍 ✨ The diversity of speakers, coming from all corners of the globe with unique perspectives and experiences, was truly inspiring. During the Career Path Panels, I had the privilege of listening to numerous seasoned professionals share their journeys, offer invaluable career advice, and engage in insightful discussions. Overall, the IPSF Career Fair & Exhibition exposed me to a wide array of opportunities for future exploration and pursuit—opportunities I wouldn’t have known existed had I not attended this event! ✨ Here are my key takeaways: 💡 I discovered I have a strong interest in pursuing health equity and global health! 💡 Don’t fret if your career turns out to have many twists and turns. Lots of people didn’t know where they’d be in 10 years and they have fulfilling careers. 💡 Prepare for your career like you do for your exams - start working on your CV and do mock interviews early! 💡 There are so many skills you can build as a student through student organisations & projects like project management & leadership. Take every opportunity you have to build yourself. Last but not least, shout out to the wonderful team behind-the-scenes that brought this to life! #ProfessionalDevelopment #pharmacystudents #FutureOfPharmacy#GlobalPerspectives #CareerOpportunities
