Congratulations to Calob Rodgers on his recent graduation from the University of Texas at San Antonio! Calob graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and is now a certified accountant. Notably, he is the first in his direct bloodline to earn a college degree. Calob was recently hired at the Levi Rodgers Real Estate Group in San Antonio, Texas. NGS is incredibly proud of Calob's determination and resilience! Calob’s father is Army Chief Warrant Officer Levi Rodgers. A Green Beret and Commander of Special Forces A-team, Levi was struck by an IED while traveling in a truck with three fellow soldiers and an Afghan translator on a mission in Afghanistan in 2009. The exploding truck was propelled into the air, engulfed in flames. None of the other four individuals in the vehicle survived. Levi sustained burns on more than 40% of his body and broke bones in both legs. He was placed in a medically induced coma for over a month and spent six months in the burn unit at BAMC for his extensive recovery. Thank you to Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund for supporting Calob!

A Call To Action: Demand Your Senators Support the VETT Act (S.677) Our legislative team needs your help to pass critical veterans legislation. We won’t be successful without voices like yours reaching out to your Members of Congress. The VSO Equal Tax Treatment (VETT) Act, a bill allowing all veteran non-profits like AMVETS and the American Legion to receive tax-deductible charitable gifts, is stuck in the Senate (S.677). This bill is crucial because Congressionally Chartered Veteran non-profits cannot have more than 10 percent of non-wartime-era veterans in their membership. If they do, the IRS will no longer let AMVETS & American Legion Posts receive tax-deductible charitable gifts, like every other charitable organization in America. And we think that’s a bunch of baloney. Veteran non-profits shouldn’t be penalized for welcoming home honorably discharged Cold War Era veterans. Our Cold War Era Veterans are invaluable members of our Nation and the AMVETS family. The law is unfair to them and their service. This outdated rule must be changed. Your Senators are the key to passing the VETT Act, and your voice is needed to see this bill enacted. Fee-Only Financial Planner for Widows & Military | Empowering Clients to Align Money with their Deepest Values | Financial Educator & Speaker
I’m so grateful to have an incredible conversation on the podcast recently with Heather Walrath AFC®, MQFP®. She currently serves as financial education and accredited financial counselor at the Navy Mutual Aid Association. As part of the Education Team, Heather speaks one-on-one with servicemembers and spouses and provides group presentations to servicemembers and families across the country to increase their knowledge and understanding of financial matters. Her areas of expertise include military and survivor benefits, including VA benefits and Survivor Benefit Plan. Heather talks about her early career interest in this profession after being an AFCPE® (Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education®) FINRA Fellow. Her early volunteer experiences helped her build her skills and showed her how much she loved this work. Later on, she started out giving presentations on a part-time basis for Navy Mutual before that eventually grew into a full-time role. Over her career, Heather has given hundreds of presentations to thousands of servicemembers and their families about military transition. But as you will hear, she shares just as many lessons learned from her own experience going through military transition earlier this year when her active duty spouse retired. We spend a good deal of time talking through her experience and wisdom of the transition and retirement process, how to find good source material, and the advice that can help you make an even more successful military transition yourself. I know this will be a big benefit to all our listeners both getting ready for their own transition or working with others who are! https://lnkd.in/ek6-2jrZ #financialplanning #military #veterans #militaryretirement #militaryspouse #milspouse #militarymoney #careers #financialservices #feeonly #fiduciary #mentoring #financialadvisors #militarytransition #militaryfriendly #podcast #cfppro #entrepreneurialjourney #entrepreneurpodcast

Award-Winning Executive Recruiter | Guiding Executive Careers Since 2008 | Connection-Innovation-Execution | U.S. Navy Persian Gulf Veteran | Arrange Your Private Career Checkup | DE&I Certified | Girl Dad & Dog Rescuer
I was honored to help raise money for the Marine Raider Foundation by running the Semper Five 5K this past weekend. I’ve been criticized by some who say I shouldn’t be sharing posts about my family, military service, and community service on LinkedIn because those topics aren’t business-related. I don’t mind the criticism, but I disagree and I’ll explain why. Business leaders are people, not AI-powered robots. All things being equal when it comes to results and performance, people prefer to do business with other people who share their common values; people they can respect, trust, and even admire. So if family and community service are values that mean something to you too, then let’s get to know one another and find ways to do business together. I promise that working with me and my world class team of recruiters at Blue Signal Search will be more than just the award-winning results and performance we’re known for. It will be an experience you will actually enjoy! #semperfi #marines #veterans #communityservice #executivesearch #legalrecruiting #lifesciences #staffing #bluesignalsearch #Linkedin #military #legalservices United States Marine Corps

When a photo says 1,000 words. This photo was shared by my sweet friend, Jenny Lynne Stroup & it hasn’t left my mind since seeing her original post. Pictured is the USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER CVN 69 with its lights off & at rest after returning home recently from a very long, extended deployment… …& then extended again. Directly next to it is the USS Harry S. Truman with its lights on & ready to roll out. Here’s the thing - Deployment’s don’t stop. This is an example of only 2 US Navy aircraft carriers swapping out on mission. At this moment, the U.S. has over 200,000 military personnel deployed. 200,000 service members away from their family, friends, & loved ones. 200,000 service members families “holding down the fort” & just waiting for the day their service member comes home. When one unit comes home, another unit heads out. Rinse & repeat. *Deployments don’t stop.* Support for our service members can’t stop. Resources MUST be constantly fueled & on the ready. Nonprofits & organizations supporting the service members that keep us sleeping peacefully at night are constantly needed. If you ever needed a sign or red flag stating WHY military support organizations are NEEDED…this is it. 🚩 Because deployments don’t stop. **I encourage you to pop over to Cassidy Norman’s posts & read a bit more into what the Ike’s deployment looked like for its crew. Hint - “…the most intense & sustained combat at sea since World War II.” Believe me, you’ll want to read the rest. #operationgratitude #supportourtroops #nonprofit #socialimpact #giveback #volunteer #remembereveryonedeployed Operation Gratitude
