What are 'magnetotelluric (MT) geophysics surveys'? These are geological techniques that help predict the location of mineral deposits by testing the electromagnetic fields in the area. We recently completed MT surveys as part of our completed Phase 2 portion of our exploration plan. Data from these surveys have pointed us to areas of potential lithium accumulation. Stallion Uranium announced the results from the completion of a #MobileMT airborne geophysical survey by Expert Geophysics Limited on Sandy Lake Project in the prolific Southwestern Athabasca Basin, in northern Saskatchewan. The purpose of the survey was mapping bedrock structure and lithology, including possible alteration and mineralization zones by observing apparent conductivity corresponding to different frequencies and inverting the EM data to obtain the distribution of resistivity with depth. Darren Slugoski, P. Geo., VP of Exploration said, “The comprehensive MobileMT™ survey was able to identify and prioritize five discrete conductive trends which will be the target of the next phase of exploration. 3D integrated geomodelling allows for the understanding of geometric relationships between geophysics, rock units, mineralization, depositional model and comparative analyses of discovered mines. The figure below is a 3D model of a property located in New Brunswick, West Forty Four Mile Brook Gold Project by 'Prospect Or', Tim Lavoie. This property has many similarities to the banded-iron formation hosted gold 'Musselwhite' mine. Age of the rocks are different, yes, but the mineralization process, may very well be the same. Why? In each case, tholeiitic basalts are in contact with Rhyolite and iron-gold beds. The tholeiitic basalt represent the oceanic crust and the gold was deposited by an underwater vent 'Black Smoker'. New Brunswick's geology is favorable for gold. ASX Announcement: Geophysics Commencement at Sally Downs Copper Project. TechGen’s Managing Director, Ashley Hood, commented: “We’re delighted to commence this state-of-the art, latest technology in airborne geophysics at our Sally Downs Kimberley project, conducted by Expert Geophysics and overseen by the Company’s geophysical consultants at Southern Geoscience. Upon completion of the survey, the data will be modelled by Expert Geophysics and Southern Geoscience, and relevant targets will be announced once available. Our other Kimberley copper/gold and nickel, lead and zinc projects, Blue Devil and Copper Springs, will be flown in another four to six weeks as a newer version of the Target EM 26 system current is currently on its way from Canada. This will be the first time the new system will be used in Australia, allowing us to be first movers within high quality projects know to host high-grade mineralisation.
