"We ask the client to engage with people earlier, from the very planning on the table. And you'll find when Aboriginal people take ownership or are invited to take ownership of a project, it runs more smoothly. So really early engagement is our strategy. We ask people, would they want to come on the journey?" - Russell Reid WSP A thought-provoking panel with Russell Reid, Gillian Cagney, Gerard Coggan, Simon Corbell, moderated by Jacqui Bridge on the topic of project and landowner approvals in renewable energy projects. #CSE24.

We are pleased to announce that we have been recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for a fourth consecutive year. Achieving this citation is part of WSP’s commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equality. It includes a formal strategy to address gender equality, policies, as well as actions to improve the gender pay gap, parental leave, domestic violence leave and flexible working. Greg Kane, CEO, says the pursuit of creating diverse, inclusive, and equitable working environments is crucial to long-term success. “Embracing diverse perspectives and experiences is vital to shaping workplaces where our people feel engaged, included, and fairly represented. “…we’re intent on raising the bar to elevate WSP as a place where people can bring their whole selves to work; where we have a direct influence on improving industry talent gaps; and where we’re fostering a workforce makeup that is more reflective of the world and communities in which we operate.” Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gwgz4zyR #DiversityAndInclusion #GenderEquality #EmployerOfChoice #WGEA #WeAreWSP

Our Water team is baking, sizzling and painting across the country while working to solve sanitation and hygiene challenges currently faced by Papua New Guinea. Participating in WaterAid’s employee development program, #Winnovators, our team is applying its knowledge onto real world scenarios to help deliver WaterAid's goal of accessible and equitable water, sanitation and hygiene for everyone. While a technical solution is the primary focus, the Water team is also fundraising to try and make the solution a reality for communities without the same guarantee of water and access that we do. With the campaign set to wrap up on 30 August, the team is hoping to finish strong, dancing, sizzling (again) and bowling at upcoming events! Our Emerging Professional Network (EPN) recently organised a site visit to the North East Link (NEL) project, where early career professionals from various disciplines witnessed some of WSP’s designs coming to life. They visited the Manningham and Bulleen sites, where they were guided by WSP site-based engineers who provided safety inductions, briefings, and spoke through the technical details of the project.   Sean Steele, Power Systems Engineer and EPN Committee member, says, “𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘌𝘗𝘕 𝘤𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘵 𝘕𝘌𝘓, 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘵𝘴. Upgrades to the Eastern Freeway and M80 Ring Road will include new lanes, smart technology, and a seamless connection to the NEL tunnels. WSP in joint venture with Arcadis is appointed as a designer for Spark, the consortium with the PPP contract to build, operate and maintain the North-East Link Tunnels. We are also delivering work for the Construction Joint Venture Spark CJV comprising CPB, We Build, GS E&C and China Construction Oceania. #Transport #EmergingProfessionals #Engineering #ChangingHowWeMove #Geotechnical #WeAreWSP
