There are some mixed reviews on the Los Angeles Lakers hire of #JJRedick…me included but…let me step back a little and look at the journey. -Played 14 seasons in the NBA -used his connects and knowledge to start a podcast -First Take, Game announcer for ESPN on NBA Finals -now is the head coach of the Lakers. How’d he do it all that in a 4 year span? He didn’t…. I’ve listened to many of his clips/pods, and it was obvious that he was humbled several times to the point where he knew he had to be a celebral player and work harder to keep playing ball. Coach K told him Duke didn’t win a championship because he wasn’t a leader. Chris Paul busted his chops early in his career in the NBA for not playing (Redick was AP Player of the Year in college). Bob Myers his agent at the time said a European team was interested because Redick’s Rookie deal was almost up and it was looking like he wasn't going to be signed. On the surface, he doesn't have coaching experience but he does have knowledge and it’s clear he knows how to leverage his knowledge. So employers, why not use Redick as an example..if job seekers have experience but not exact experience why not take that chance? All of the jobseekers may have more below the surface.
