Check out this new article I wrote for the UNC Mirror! It covers the university’s plan to propose a bill for state funding for the construction of their medical school. I learned a lot about journalistic style and covering live events. Read it here:

Helping people restore their energy, health, vitality, as well as the hopeful, positive outlook they once had for life decades ago through private/group coaching on mindset shifts and nutrition. ♥
The Flexner report was very specific, targeted, and also devastating report. The planning and foresight was impressive, and this is how big families/family money remains in power. Planning, patience, foresight. Most people, including me, think of their own lifetime and children, but less so much about generations from now when we are long gone.
The book "the Fourth Turning" goes into this, along with "Generations" and is why history repeats itself. There are some patient, powerful people who are busy orchestrating the next decades while most of us average folk go along for the ride and react to what is happening now or the near term trend rather than in the planning of those trends.
Specifically the Flexner report was about better living through chemistry, getting rid of true healthcare (naturopathic, homeopathic, chiropractic alignment etc calling them "alternative" not funding their education, casting doubt upon its efficacy…) while promoting the treating symptoms with chemicals as opposed to getting to the root cause and helping people get well. We have a sick care model by design.
A patient cured is a customer lost.
Passionate about seeing the Alkebulan of my dream emerge. I am unapologetically African. We are building the Emerging Alkebulan. Titles don't matter. Disrupting the status quo. Thought provoker. Pan African to the core.
John D. Rockefeller and the Origins of Modern Medicine
In 1910, The Rockefeller Foundation funded the Flexner Report, which was commissioned by the council on medical education via the American Medical Association. The intention of this report was to evaluate and restructure medical education in the United States, and that’s exactly what it did.— Read More https://lnkd.in/ejHmh2RC#Oladelesthoughts#modernmedicine#bigpharma
Most troublesome thing I heard at Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) LSL 2023 in Seattle?
From a group of pre-clinical faculty:
📑 "What is even the point of year 1, year 2 in medical school anymore?"
🚩 "I don't even know what our role is, no one comes to class, we can't even get the students on campus".
💻 "We don't have any support for what we are being asked to do- moving away from lecture based instruction!"
Its the worst of both worlds- calling it "flipped classroom" in name only while continuing to ask students and faculty to operate in a traditional pre-clinical curriculum. Lacking a big picture of the continuum from year 1- year 4. Mixed messages on USMLE and COMLEX prep.
What problems are you seeing in your institution?
What schools are doing something right?
