In our latest blog post, The Dahlia Group presents 10 essential questions every nonprofit board should be asking regularly. These include: 1. Are we fulfilling our mission effectively? 2. Do we have a clear and actionable strategic plan? 3. Is our financial oversight adequate? 4. Are we effectively measuring and communicating our impact? 5. Is our board composition diverse and inclusive? [... and five more crucial questions] Each question comes with insights and links to valuable resources, providing a roadmap for improved governance and greater organizational impact. As Peter Drucker said, "The most serious mistakes are not being made as a result of wrong answers. The truly dangerous thing is asking the wrong question." Are you ready to ask the right questions? "It can be lonely at the top." Being a nonprofit executive can feel isolating. Often, there’s no one within the organization to discuss sensitive issues or challenging situations. The ESC Nonprofit Executive RoundTable (NET) fills this support gap, providing a confidential forum for executive directors, CEOs, and presidents to share challenges and receive real-time, constructive feedback from knowledgeable, connected leaders who understand the unique challenges of the role. Meeting remotely via Zoom once a month for nine months, this facilitated roundtable fosters a community of peers, encouraging nonprofit leaders to freely share concerns and receive support from those with similar experiences. The discussion topics are driven by the group's interests. For more information or to sign up for the fall 2024 session, visit https://lnkd.in/eR_pJkT or contact Julie Crockford, ESC’s president, at jcrockford@empowersuccesscorps.org. #nonprofit #leaders

Dear fellow young african nonprofit founders & leaders, do you know the process of identifying board members for your organization? Check out: Board members recruitment list. 1 Look at your top volunteers, top donors, experts in the field. 2 If you don't have a good list of these you need to start developing a broader funnel. Create an engagement ladder to move people through. 3 Create a matrix of skills you need (I.e. Legal, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, marketing etc) create a board position description and go to companies likely to have talent in those areas. 4 Put out an open call for board member applications. Or if you want a bit more control start them off with committee applications then pick your favorite the board.
