🧱 What has MedTech to do with the Berlin Wall? 🍕How does ordering a pizza fit in? 🍃 And who is the Windman of Change? Our Senior Partner, Petteri Järkkä, describing himself as ever the cynical optimist and also a 24-year veteran of healthcare, shares his personal story of hope in the field of MedTech. 🏥 He truly believes that we are now witnessing a transformative period in healthcare, a sprint, driven by technological advancements and a renewed focus on innovation. ...and yes… we always say this… but why is it different this time? “The MedTech industry is expected evolve in its approach to value demonstration. By harnessing the power of data and evidence, to craft narratives showcasing both the tangible and relevant long-term benefits of new innovations, especially as those innovations often come with higher initial price tag. The challenge lies not only in identifying and combining a multitude of relevant data sources, and parameters but also in effectively crafting them into a compelling value story towards the different stakeholders” writes Petteri. 🔗Read more in Petteri's blog post: https://lnkd.in/d-GtdsC7 #healthcare #medtech #innovation #technology #blog Picture: AI generated image

What an incredible experience at the Aging2.0 OPTIMIZE conference in Louisville! It's these rich, behind-the-scenes conversations - those shared over a glass of crème brûlée tasting bourbon or in hallway connections - that are truly advancing our industry. I was especially inspired by the many leaders from Europe scouting out tech solutions to bring back to their markets. Europe has some powerful financial incentives, potentially offering faster ways to deploy impactful technologies. We have a lot to learn from their approach, and I’m excited about the global momentum we’re building together. I was honored to join Arif Nazir MD on stage, along with Ernie Ianace from AMBA and Jeff Guan from the University of Louisville, as we unpacked the realities of AI in healthcare. Plus, Daniel Findlay, CSP, CCSM and Ed Leach for a lively, unscripted discussion on the Grand Challenges for the industry. A huge congratulations to Jimmy Zollo from Joe & Bella for winning the CareTech pitch competition, plus Eric Buffkin with etectRx with a killer value prop. Menno Gravemaker with Momo Medical hosted - and did a much more professional job this year than I did last year pronouncing everyone's names correctly 🤣 To my fellow AgeTech and HealthTech CEOs and founders - it takes great investors and passionate entrepreneurs to challenge the status quo. Stick with it. Let’s keep pushing forward together. #HealthcareInnovation #CareTech #AIinHealthcare #GlobalCollaboration #CareDaily #Louisville #Kentucky #Europe #PitchCompetition #AgeTech #HealthTech

Strategic leader with experience in Innovation, Product & Service Lifecycle Management, Product & Service Development, Project Management, and Marketing from startup to large corporations
May 1-2 I had the opportunity to attend the Device Talks Boston conference. My top 3 take aways from that meeting: 1. Health care is changing quickly with MedTech companies committing dedicated teams and investments to digital health solutions. 2. Connected Care enables the right information at the right place at the right time (looking beyond AI, data, analytics). This includes smart implants that are able to sense, process, and adjust. It also means that competitors need to learn how to work together and partner with other tech providers. 3. Workflow efficiency that minimizes administrative burden is key in ensuring quality time with patients and improved quality of life for clinicians. The most impactful sound byte for me from the meeting: "It's not that patients suddenly deteriorate; it's that caregivers suddenly notice." (credit: RTI)

If I had a dollar for every time I had heard MedTech execs mention DTC this year, I would probably have about $50. Which isn't actually that much now I think about it. But it's probably $50 more than I would have earned a couple of years ago in this somewhat convoluted hypothetical scenario. Anyway, the point is that it's interesting to see the increasing consumerisation of healthcare and direction of travel towards patient-centricity and care at home. Wheel are making great strides in this space and I would encourage any interested parties to check out their white paper on innovation in virtual care programs. Interesting reflections from Renfrew Group International about the challenges SMEs face in the UK when developing and scaling medical technology. Thank you kindly for referring to the work that CPI and ABHI carried out. We do need a UK strategy for HealthTech and together as an ecosystem, we can mobilise the ecosystem for the benefit of the UK economy and patients. The UK's Catapult network, who are strongly aligned to government strategies (including industrial) have an important part to play in this. https://lnkd.in/edBUDukk

HealthTech Ireland CEO Susan Treacy BSc., M.Med.Sc., PG Dip. reports from the MedTech Conference (#MTC24) in Toronto, where the sentiment throughout was optimistic and leaders agreed that it’s an exciting time to be in healthcare, as the potential for innovation and improvement seems limitless. Regulation of data and #AI was a hot topic, and one notable session featured NVIDIA’s David Niewolny, who spoke from another regulatory perspective, proposing the concept of digital twins and virtual testing environments as a way to improve AI systems in healthcare. #ehealth #healthit #digitalhealth #PulseIT
