Fun Fact :
In 2022, I competed in my first bobdybuilding competition, as a Figure competitor (WILD!) This is from someone who spent most of my life until my early 20s as a VERY overweight person. While health and fitness have been a central part of my life for several years now, a bodybuilding competition was not on my agenda (until it was). This video was filmed just a few weeks before the big day. The journey was draining but SO empowering, and a journey I truly enjoyed. There is something special that happens when you push yourself past previous limits to prove to yourself just what you are capable of. I had the privilege of working with my incredible coach, Lesley Chin (who also competed that year), and the support of the rest of my #FamilyinFitness at The Performace Lab.
My daughter, Eliza, watched me train for many months and was in the audience at the show. She still talks about my "posing" until today. It may have been my first bodybuilding competition, but it will not be my last (thinking about a go at powerlifting too 🤔).
What I leart from my first bodybuilding competition:
1) Lift Heavy Things.
2) Cardio is not fun but it doesn't have to be boring.
3) You can live on chicken breast and asparagus.
4) Do it Anyway.
5) Your body will go where your mind can lead it.
6) Coaches are a must.
7) Say no to things that don't serve you.
Don't be afraid of challenging yourself and stepping into uncharted waters. You may just find a better, stronger version of yourself.

Flashbacks to dancing on bar tabletops…
Is how I fire myself up to train 😂
Romanticizing the little things, the mundane tasks, the boring processes…
Is how you reach your goals faster and with more joy.
In MindFit we cover why romanticizing the little things in life is so crucial to consistency… and we all know without consistency we don’t see results.
Try this on today and let me know what your experience was like!
I recently was asked what my walk out song would be…
“Can’t tell me nothing” by Kanye was my response ✌🏻
What’s your pump up song?

What a year of dancing at a team performance level with an award-winning instructor taught me, and what does it have to do with work? Everything!
An ex-colleague used to say, When you play team sports, you start to understand what it means to be in a team. In my case, the team sport was street latin dance in a performance team, and it helped me tremendously to make 2024 a more manageable year.
Here’s my key takeaways:
1. Leave no one behind and you lift each other up, even when you come from different backgrounds
2. Ask for help when you need it - Else, who’d know you need help? I managed to nail challenging moves with top tips and creative break down of the moves from my teammates
3. To be excellent and proficient takes time and focus - Sometimes as long as more than a year. After I severely injured my ankle, it took me a year before almost nailing familiar spins again.
4. You aren’t gonna be at your best ALL.THE.TIME, but you’re still a team and in it together - There were times when my fellow teammates had to do difficult moves almost 10 times in a row just so that I can do a decent run, and they did it without complain. The patience and grace gave me faith that I too can do it
5. Orient towards a common picture of good - When you share with each other your picture of good and align to a common vision, it makes the journey together a much easier and enjoyable one
6. Dance is not everything - This applies to work too. At the end of the day, it’s the sense of purpose, satisfaction and bonds that we fuels us and that we leave (or live) with
How do your team mates support each other mutually?
What do you do outside of work that fuels you?
I’d love to hear from you!
Meanwhile, leaving here snapshots of moves I struggle with and my best (and last) run this season - A gratitude momento of this year’s dance cycle and its positive impact on my being and work life.

Teams that workout together… stay consistent and get more results ! 💪🏼
Build strength and endurance without wondering what to do, how to do it or with whom to do it 🙌🏼
A motivated, experienced and qualified entertRainer (me 🫠) makes each class varied, adaptive and structured in a way that ANYONE can join. The special headphones 🎧 are provided before each class to enhance the experience by offering incredible sound/music and crystal clear on ear instructions. All this without bothering anyone around us 💪🏼🎧
Bonus! We workout outdoors, so no more stuffy, smelly and crowded gyms where equipment is scarce and scary 🫣
No waiting time = more effective training
Outdoor workout = better air quality and better sleep
Team spirit = more consistency and better accountability
Music 🎶 = increased motivation and time flies 😆
