Thrilled to have a good friend of #NCCAT, Ben Owens, leading the "Experiential Math Mindsets" program with talented educators from across North Carolina. This morning, there were great questions and engaging conversations on some good Chalk Talk questions at NCCAT Cullowhee, all aimed at positively impacting students and families. A big thanks to everyone involved! Looking forward to a great week and what this group takes back to classrooms.

At MIND, we take great pride in our accountability with continuous research. As a result, we can share how effective ST Math is—and how critical it is to student math achievement—by demonstrating repeatable results at scale. But despite the proven success of ST Math, districts and schools may decide to stop using it. There is no denying the significant improvement in grade-level performance when schools and districts implement ST Math in classrooms. The question is, would math scores drop when students stop using ST Math? Visit the link to learn what happens when schools stop using ST Math: https://bit.ly/49U9zrD #STMath #Research #Efficacy

"As students advance into middle school, the number that lose interest in math and sciences jumps significantly. A full 50 percent of students, for example, lose interest in science by the eighth grade -- up from one-third of fourth graders. And less than half of Oregon eighth graders pass the math standard. Our middle school program is designed to increase interest in both subjects before the students enter high school and begin to be pushed out of the education system entirely. The unique program connects math and science to places in their community — such as a school, park or abandoned property — to make it highly relevant to the students in each school. This community-based approach helps make the learning relevant for the student and keeps them engaged in the process."
