Last week, we celebrated our summer intern, Sandy (second from left), who helped us capture wonderful health education content in Spanish, which we will be releasing soon! We also are grateful for the work our Medicaid Expansion Regional Support Specialists are doing to connect people to care (Robyn, left; Alison, second from right; with manager April Morgan, right). This week I was invited to speak at a Schwartz Round at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. The topic was 'Caring for the Caregivers'. In the lead up to this event, I had no idea what I was signing up to. After speaking with the facilitators, I understood it was a forum for healthcare workers to share emotional aspects of their work and to convey learning points which could be implemented in our own practice. I shared stories from my personal experiences as a patient, porter, and medical student. Often, we become fixated on delivering care, neglecting our well-being. The NHS functions because staff go above and beyond daily; staying late, arriving early, or skipping lunch breaks. I spoke about how this one-dimensional care is dangerous for staff. We excel at patient care but can improve by checking in on each other. From my anecdotes, I emphasised a common theme: uncertainty. Many are facing tough times, whether due to the cost of living crisis or the demoralising impact of the new PIA (Preference Informed Allocation) system on medical students. We owe it to one another to touch base regularly, fostering camaraderie and a supportive work environment, ultimately enhancing patient care. These are some little things we can do to make our colleagues feel better: - Say Hello! - Smile 😁 - Ask "How they are?" or "If they're feeling okay?" - Relate to them with your own experiences. Every one's story will be unique! - Follow up with them. See if they're improving. I hope these points are beneficial to you and improve your work place morale. #hospital #nhs #publicspeaking #porter #medicalstudent #schwartzround

Enjoyed presenting at the Rise Medicare Readiness Summit / Annual Enrollment Conference (for Medicare Advantage Plans) last week. Exciting to see how health plans are thinking about digital education strategies to improve member retention, engagement and satisfaction. An older adult who has read and understands their health plan benefits is 50% less likely to change plans…great educational opportunity! Plan-specific education can nicely complement GetSetUp Health Equity programming; digital literacy, benefits education, job skills, socialization, financial literacy and we can create happier, healthier members together! #AEP2024 #MedicareEducation #SeniorEducation #HealthEducation #MedicarePlans #MedicareCoverage #MedicareBenefits #MedicareEnrollment #MedicareAdvantage #MedicareEnrollmentPeriod #OpenEnrollment

As the dust begins to settle on the most decisive election in decades, it's crucial to understand what the results mean for our industry. LaingBuisson invites you to an insightful webinar where our panel of experts will discuss the key outcomes and their impact on the sector. We look forward to seeing you there!
Sure its a cliché but - after 14 years of Conservative government – its hard not say that the people have spoken. Whether this was a vote for Labour or a vote against the Conservatives, the outcome remains the same – a Labour Party with a majority so large that they have the capability to push through any legislation with relative ease. Throughout the election campaign, LaingBuisson analysis has been used to inform national media coverage on health and social care issues and to provide context to explain political proposals. Now we know the scale of the result, we are turning our attention to what comes next. I hope you will join us for our post-election #webinar ‘Private Healthcare Post-Election: Navigating Changes’. I am delighted that I will be joined by Justin Ash, CEO of Spire Healthcare Group plc, Hannah Farrar, CEO of CF, and David Hare MBE, CEO of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN). With a rich history of expertise across the independent and #NHS sectors, I will be pressing our expert panel for views on whether what #Labour has said they will do is what is actually going to happen, and what the next five years means for independent providers.
