Italy.. a #leader in the #CircularEconomy #Italy is the European country with the highest #recycling rate of the total volume of special and urban waste produced (83.4%), which is higher than the average rate in #Europe (53.8%), Germany (70%), France (64.5%) and Spain (65.3%). We are second after France in terms of the use of secondary raw materials – the share of secondary raw materials in the total amount of raw materials used is 21.6% (+55% compared to 2012), while the European average is 12.8%. During the disposal of waste from #oil processing, the reproduction rate reached 98% in 2021 in Italy (61% in Europe), and for #steel, the recycling rate was 82% in 2020 (55.7% in the EU and 28.62% globally). Thanks to the use of secondary raw materials as a substitute of raw material, 23 million tons of oil equivalent and 63 million tons of CO2 equivalent are avoided in Italy every year.

Owner factory - Vietnam's first water biodegradable plastic technology. A unique range of recyclable, biodegradable, compostable and water soluble packaging solutions. Suitable for manufacturing, FMCG, retails, E-comm...
In Vietnam, plastic pollution is out of control and it has nothing to do with imported waste or third parties. It is mainly fulled by the people themselves. From large urban centers to small villages and industrial parks, all of them have become surounded by plastic waste to the point the landscape looks like a continuous landfill. Workers before reaching their job will drop coffee, jus and breakfast take away containers and the same on their way back before getting home. Teens in the evening will do the same while outside socializing. Vietnam which has a strong government needs to implement comprehensive regulations with high penalties and nationwide enforcement. Littering should be considered as treason to the country, its economy, the health of the population and the future of the next generations. Penalties need to reflect the urgency of the situation and leave no second thought to those still littering. For a society that is all about face saving, the authorities should broadcast on live TV the people caught littering and make a case to educate the others. I believe everything could change within a year. Sadly, as it is now, even the brand new highway is already littered with waste to be seen continously as you go accross the country which baffles me as how is one able to litter from his car window driving 100km/h... Vietnam needs to start fighting, and win this new war.
https://lnkd.in/gKWWYqJZ How to explain this? It's easy: the failure of Vietnam to ban single-use plastics

Happy #EarthDay! 🌍 At the Recycling Council of Alberta, our mission resonates deeply with the spirit of Earth Day. The RCA’s mission is to promote, facilitate, and advocate for a Circular Economy in Alberta through waste reduction and resource conservation. Through a consultative approach and support of RCA Committees, partners, and additional stakeholders, we pursue the protection of the environment through resource conservation following the 3Rs hierarchy. This week holds particular significance as Canada hosts the fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) in Ottawa. Together, nations gather to drive progress towards a global agreement on plastic pollution by 2024's end. It's a pivotal moment. We urge the Canadian government to take a strong position at these critical negotiations to ensure plastics stay out of the environment and in the economy.

🌍 Importing Rubbish = Importing Problems 🚫 For years China was buying 8 million tonnes of waste annually from around the globe. But that caused a massive strain on their recycling industry, leading to pollution and environmental concerns. Then came the "National Sword" policy in 2018, shutting the door on foreign waste imports. 🛑 Let's rethink our waste management strategies... What's your take on this lesson China learned the hard way? Let's discuss! 🌱 #Sustainability #WasteManagement #EnvironmentalAction #GlobalWaste #RecyclingCrisis #WastePolicy #EnvironmentalImpact #CircularEconomy #WasteReduction #SustainableLiving #GreenFuture #WasteAwareness #EcoFriendly

Here's another calling I missed... But clearly it has caught up with me. After an enthralling zoom call with this guy here I had to go see for myself what he was talking about. How is it possible that we both operate in the same circular economy in Tobago yet I never knew of him or his company 🤔 Recycling and Waste Logistics (RWL) is a Tobagonian company that recycles ♻️ waste. Various grades of plastic, cans, paper and glass are collected around the island and brought to this facility where it is sorted, sifted, separated, compressed & compacted before being shipped off to different countries. Some of the sorted waste, namely glass and plastics, are sent to Trinidad for recycling so the domestic economy benefits as well! I once responded YES to a teacher who asked sarcastically, "Do you want to end up picking up people's garbage". I've always considered waste disposal as a noble profession. So today's impromptu, totally unexpected tour of RWL's waste recycling facility was divine! We have sooooo much in common, that I need to circle back soon. Today I saw the mantra of waste to wealth personified. Why get 'filthy rich' when you can be 'clean rich'? #CircularEconomy #wastetowealth #recycle #sustainableliving

HOW SWEDEN MANAGED TO TURN IT'S WASTE INTO GOLD Just think of a country that buys garbage from other countries, and its residents feel comfortable wearing second-hand clothes and taking bottles to recycling centers. Pretty weird, isn't it? Well, if you've already imagined a Godforsaken third-world state, then you're wrong. We're talking about Sweden, one of the richest countries in Europe, which has become the absolute record holder in waste recycling. So today you'll find out how Sweden turns waste into gold. #One_percent. That is how much trash ends up in Swedish landfills. According to the Swedish waste management association Avfall Sverige, Sweden now recycles more than #99% of it's household waste. The recycling system works so well that Sweden serves as an example for almost all developed countries concerned about environmental issues. Why does this system work? watch the video. #waste_to_energy #sustainability #waste_management #zero_waste_to_the_landfills

The Philippines, despite being one of the largest contributors to ocean plastic pollution, has also become a global destination for legally imported waste. Many countries send their trash here, paying substantial amounts with the expectation that it will be recycled. However, in reality, much of this waste is not properly processed and ends up being dumped into the ocean. This situation highlights a complex paradox. On the one hand, the Philippines benefits economically from waste imports, with revenues supporting the national budget, creating jobs, and driving infrastructure development. But on the other hand, these short-term economic gains put the country's and the region's environmental future at risk. Just today, I was discussing with a colleague a similar philosophical dilemma. We reflected on how, in some cases, economic progress and caring for people are prioritized over protecting the environment. A famous example is the Aral Sea. In the pursuit of economic gain through cotton farming and sustaining local communities, we witnessed the tragic collapse of one of the world’s largest lakes. #interestingfacts #environment #protection #recycling #ocean #waste #economic #dilemma

Plastic waste and bottles are a nuisance and an ecological problem for the marine environment. A company on the Mediterranean coast of Spain provides dedicated cleaning services to local port authorities. They use a boat that is entirely made from stainless steel. Its bow can be opened like a pair of scissors to trap floating garbage from the water surface. As the name, “Pelican”, implies, it collects the waste in its bow for recycling. Typically deployed at the beginning and at the end of the tourist season, it helps the coastal communities to keep their ports and marinas clean and attractive. A recent mission in the waters of Cartagena is a case in point: 7.5 tons of floating waste were collected in a single campaign, which illustrates the size of the problem. https://ow.ly/Bg0s50QJP6X #stainlesssteel #waste #wasteSkimming #wasteskimmingboat
