I frequently get asked “should I get a PhD?” The answer is of course different for everyone. But one thing is for sure - the depth, quality, and rigor of the research *process* at an R1 institution is profound. These days higher ed gets a lot of pushback. What’s the ROI of a degree? Why is this system so exclusive? Isn’t this just another form of economic stratification? The critiques are necessary. But so is higher ed’s rigor. I hope more orgs will take cues from academia and invest deep focus into research. It seems costly up front but results in higher quality outputs from change management to strategy to productivity to innovation. #proudbruin #bruin #highered #socialscience #orgdev #research #orgdevelopment

Beyond Taboos: Rethinking Education for a Changing World. The 20th Annual York University Graduate Student Conference in Education will be taking place from May 6-8, 2024. This milestone year marks a bold exploration of uncharted territories within the field of education under the theme Beyond Taboos: Rethinking Education for a Changing World. I'm excited to present a paper in which I encapsulate my journey from being an artist to artist-educator, influenced by J Krishamurthy and Paulo Freire's educational philosophies in a borderless, fearless, inclusive teaching-learning environment.

Helping K-12 school leaders to improve the climate of their schools using the science of Self-Determination Theory.
Good recommendations for Australia. From my perspective as an enthusiast of Self-Determination Theory I notice the a number of the recommendations are redundant. When the primary and secondary human needs for relatedness, autonomy, competence, and beneficence are taken as foundational then things like curiosity, purpose, and some other things are going to naturally follow from the satisfaction of those needs.

Thank you so much for your love and support guys! This week has been so incredible
