History of measurement The earliest recorded systems of weights and measures originate in the 3rd or 4th millennium BC. Even the very earliest civilizations needed measurement for purposes of agriculture, construction and trade. Early standard units might only have applied to a single community or small region, with every area developing its own standards for lengths, areas, volumes and masses. Often such systems were closely tied to one field of use, so that volume measures used, for example, for dry grains were unrelated to those for liquids, with neither bearing any particular relationship to units of length used for measuring cloth or land. With development of manufacturing technologies, and the growing importance of trade between communities and ultimately across the Earth, standardized weights and measures became critical. Starting in the 18th century, modernized, simplified and uniform systems of weights and measures were developed, with the fundamental units defined by ever more precise methods in the science of metrology. The discovery and application of electricity was one factor motivating the development of standardized internationally applicable units. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HAPPY WORLD ENGINEERING DAY!👷🏾♀️😊 As an agricultural engineer,I usually get questioned a lot on what the field is all about. In the midst of World Engineering Day,is an opportunity to celebrate engineering and the contribution of the world's engineers for a better, sustainable world,in my case, #theagriculturalengineer. Enjoy this little informative video that sums up the profession in a nutshell. #worldengineeringday #sustainableagriculture #sustainableenergy #SDG FAO -“17 goals,6 years to achieve them, one future!”

Focusing TVET programs on developing skills tailored to the needs of key industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and technology is essential for driving economic growth. The Technical University of Kenya's specialized training in agricultural engineering is a great example of how TVET institutions can support key industries. Agriculture is a critical sector in many economies, and specialized training in agricultural engineering can help address the specific challenges and demands of the sector. The Technical University of Kenya's program likely includes coursework and practical training in areas such as farm machinery, irrigation systems, soil management, and crop processing technologies. By offering specialized training in agricultural engineering, the Technical University of Kenya is equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute to the agricultural sector. This, in turn, can lead to increased productivity, efficiency, and innovation in agriculture, driving economic growth and development. Overall, focusing TVET programs on developing skills tailored to key industries can help ensure that the workforce is equipped to meet the needs of these industries, driving economic growth and development in the process. Science & Engineering. Depending on the situation I can morph into either a Food Technologist or a Food Engineer
This thing threw me off also before I realised 🤣. The reasons why y'all were seeing different formulas for pressure drop and Reynold's number is because of different Engineering principles sometimes use different approach. For example according to R. Paul singh he stated that in civil engineering they use the DARCY FRICTION FACTOR, but in food engineering we use the FANNING FRICTION FACTOR. So now I believe that y'all now understand why there's different equations because one is for fanning, the other is for Darcy. So you now know which one to use before running to the MOODY CHART 😁 #foodengineering #foodscienceandtechnology #foodtechnology #foodscience #engineering #fluidmechanics
