More and more companies that produce food in large quantities like this should be partnering with Second Harvest and local food agencies.
Happy Earth Day!🌍The RBC Convention Centre has formed a new partnership with Second Harvest, Canada's largest food rescue and redistribution organization, marking a significant step towards achieving a "no-waste, no-hunger" community. Since joining forces in February 2024, we've contributed over 9,700 pounds of food to local non-profits, and counting! #EarthDay #EarthDay2024 Read our full Green Initiatives document, by visiting the link below: https://lnkd.in/gGaJpDrw

It was a (humbling) delight to receive an email from Goods For Good last week, penned by their CEO Rosalind Bluestone MBE, reflecting on their ten years of making an impact. This amazing charity goes above and beyond to support vulnerable individuals across the world - the scope of what they do cannot be done justice in a few words here! In their own words, they are "..more than just a charity – it is a movement that believes in equality for all. We believe in a sustainable world where all human beings have the vital everyday goods they need to thrive." We've supported Goods for Good for a number of years, and continue to donate 10% of all entry fees from our Humanitarian Response Champions category. This category looks to highlight the best in humanity’s response to crisis; ones which can inspire others and set an example of how people can come together in the face of adversity for basic human rights and the common good. You can read more about that here >> https://lnkd.in/ebTSmzrF And we would also urge you to have a read of Rosalind's summary of the last decade, which comes from the heart, and gives a wonderful insight into the difference this organisation has been making >> https://lnkd.in/eZ87P6VA

World Humanitarian Day is a time to recognize the incredible people who risk their lives to help others in crisis. Every year on August 19th, we honor those who bring hope, relief, and support to communities facing natural disasters, conflict, and other emergencies. It’s also a reminder for all of us to do our part, no matter how small, to make the world a better place. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness, we can all contribute to the spirit of humanitarianism. Let’s take a moment to appreciate and support those who dedicate their lives to helping others. #worldhumanitarianday #humanitarianheroes #globalsolidarity #actforhumanity #hopeinaction #humanityfirst #togetherforgood #supporthumanitarians #makingadifference #crisisresponse

A new report by Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) says it best: "Meeting basic needs alone is not enough for people to thrive. They need to be able to connect with others, have choices and opportunities and feel included in society." This is the essence of the work we do with our network of food banks around #NorthLondon. By asking them what they need each week, we can better provide for their guests and offer as much choice as possible. Through our food banks, we support 20,000 people a week struggling with #FoodPoverty. Today is World Water Day. In the UK, we often take water for granted as it is readily available. However, there are still 2.2 billion people around the world who do not have access to safely managed drinking water. This includes 115 million people who drink surface water, which is often dirty and unsafe. These individuals have to spend hours each day walking to find water and then drink and wash in unsanitary conditions. On this day, let's spare a thought for those who are less fortunate and do not have access to clean water. If possible, consider donating to organizations such as UNICEF, who are working towards providing access to clean water for people in need. #WorldWaterDay #CleanWaterForAll #UNICEF #DonateToMakeADifference

As a sign of commitment to #solidarity and the #Environment, #GrupoFreixenet employees have donated their Teaming funds to GEVEN (Grup Ecologista del Vendrell i del Baix Penedès). From the company we applaud this solidarity initiative and have matched the amount raised. Its work ranges from denouncing aggressions to the territory to concrete actions to save ecosystems. Image Text: UJDP and CBPR What is the relationship between UJDP and CBPR? Until Justice Data Partners was founded because of the need for accessible information to the people who live within a community. Where other organizations and governments often come in to a community to tell them what is best, they then dismiss the expertise of the people who belong to the community itself. Scientific data and expertise isn't all about numbers. Data also includes personal experiences from the people who live with the reality of pollution and environmental disasters every day. Our goal at UJDP is to help elevate the voices of the people who matter - the people who know these communities inside and out - and to help them speak for themselves. Nobody knows what a community needs more than their own residents. To help us continue this mission, please consider becoming a recurring donor. Every dollar raised goes to ensure that community safety is a priority. Hundreds of organizations have invested billions of dollars and decades of effort, but the global water crisis is still a crisis. Significant progress has been made but incremental improvements simply aren’t enough. The problem is overwhelming, the answer is complex, but we believe the global water crisis CAN be solved. However, we cannot do this alone. That is why everything we do is built on the power of collaboration. Through partnerships with organizations like Water Mission, Safe Water Network, charity: water, RWSN - Rural Water Supply Network and many others, we are equipping leaders to solve the global water crisis together. How have you seen the power of collaboration in your work? We’d love to hear about it! #SafeDrinkingWater #GlobalWaterCenter #Collaboration #NonProfits #HumanRights #Charity
