Your Ideas Are Valuable! Protect Them with Intellectual Property (IP) Ever had a brilliant idea for a product, invention, or creative work? That's intellectual property (IP), and it deserves protection! Here's a quick breakdown of the main types of IP: 1. Patents: Exclusive rights for inventions, like a new device or process. Think of it as a golden shield for your innovation. 2. Copyrights: Protects original works of authorship, from books and music to software and website designs. Copyright your creation to be the sole author. 3. Trademarks: Distinctive signs that identify your brand, like logos, slogans, or even sounds. A trademark is your brand's signature! 4. Trade Secrets: Confidential information that gives you a competitive edge, like a special recipe or manufacturing process. Keep your secret sauce a secret! Why is IP important? 1. Protects your hard work: Prevents others from copying your ideas and reaping the benefits. 2. Encourages innovation: Knowing your ideas are protected fuels creativity and invention. 3. Boosts your business value: Strong IP can be a valuable asset for attracting investors or partners. P.S. What questions do you have about protecting your intellectual property? April Fools’ Day Special: Believe It or Not in IP 🙈 This April Fools’, we’re not tricking you - instead, we’re sharing a genuinely bizarre yet true tale from the world of Intellectual Property that might just make you do a double-take! 🤯 Did you know that 20 years ago, a patent was granted by the US Patent Office for a method of swinging on a swing sideways? Yes, you read that correctly. Patent no. US6368227B1 was issued for a “method of swinging on a swing,” which essentially described a ‘new’ way for a child to swing: by pulling on one chain more than the other, thereby swinging side to side rather than the traditional back and forth. While this patent was eventually re-examined and its claims cancelled (highlighting the importance of novelty in patent law), it remains a fascinating example of how broad and quirky the field of IP can get… So next time you’re at the park, remember: even the simplest joys in life, like swinging on a swing, can become the subject of intellectual property discussions. Just maybe don’t try to patent the slide technique! 😉 For assistance in IP, and making sure you spend your time and resources on patentable inventions, contact STEYN IP®. #AprilFools #TrueButStrange #STEYNIP #DreamersWelcome #AINNO #LegalMavericks #ProtectingCreativity #ProtectingDreams #IPinsights #createPROTECT #letsTALKip #intellectualproperty #intellectualpropertylaw #trademarks #patents #copyright #designs #YourBrandProtected #dreamBIG #IPLaw #ip #InnovationMatters #FileFirst #SIP

Every business owner has intellectual property. Does that surprise you? Many people think that intellectual property (IP) only applies to inventions or things you get a patent or trademark for. And while IP does describe those things, it also describes a lot of things you probably create in your business. IP can include: ✅A framework ✅A system ✅Content ✅Trainings or workshops ✅Ebooks or guides ✅Your proven process for completing client work or projects Did you know IP covers all of these things? Share one piece of intellectual property you’ve created in your business – even if you’re just now learning that it counts as IP! #KliebertLaw #attorney #lockinyourlegal #intellectualproperty

I didn’t mean to #infringe on his rights….. But, you did!!! In today’s Intellectual Property (IP) intensive environment, people mostly don’t set out to steal or copy any other person’s property, invention, or creative ideas. Rather, their infringing actions are mostly influenced by misleading informations on the internet. However, ignorant of the law won't be an excuse if you're caught using someone's Intellectual Property without authorization and liable for infringement. For this reason, i have curated this simple IP Myths that needed to be debunked and replaced with pure FACTS. Let’s go, are you ready 🏃🏽♀️➡️ 📌 IP protects the idea💡in my head - (No ma, IP only protects the EXPRESSION of the idea you have in your head). 📌 Using the TM sign without registration will prevent other people from using my trademark - (No it won’t) 📌 Trade secret is only for big companies that employ plenty people - (if I hear 👂, even Iya Basira alakara has trade secret! So 🤐🤫). 📌 If I pay someone to design a logo for me, I automatically own the right to the logo - (Eskis me sir, it doesn’t work that way). 📌 Patent is only for science related industries and tech companies - (No, it is not. If you have a solution to a technical problem you can file for patent). Remember, ignorance of the LAW is not an EXCUSE!!!. Which of these Myths did you actually believe was a fact??? Share, like, comment and follow for more Intellectual Property related Content. Happy New Month 🥰. #intellectualproperty #ipmythbusters #dintangiblenugget™ #businessowners
