There is a significant gap in philanthropic funding for feminist activists in the United States. Even though women and girls make up more than half of the country's population, less than 2% of philanthropic funding goes to organizations serving them. At Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism, we mobilize resources to women, trans, and non-binary activists who are at risk and aim to protect their rights. Boards come of age We’ve seen progress over the years in gender diversity: today 47% of positions are filled by women (up to 70% in social services organizations). But racial diversity on boards lags behind, with only 10% of positions today filled by members of racialized groups (only 3% in environmental charities). #nonprofits #charitablegiving #diversity

How does philanthropy impact global challenges? Philanthropy significantly impacts global challenges by forming effective , public-private partnerships, addressing issues like climate change, SRHR and infrastructure needs. It goes beyond funding, actively shaping sustainable practices and influencing policies to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. Philanthropy also leverages AI to enhance donor engagement, optimize operations, and amplify impact while ensuring ethical application and preserving core values.

It's time to be ruthlessly strategic in our philanthropic support of movements to build a just democracy. This political moment calls for a comprehensive philanthropic strategy that protects marginalized communities from physical and political attacks while building the economic, cultural, and political power we need to create a future where we all can thrive. I designed the Courageous Giving Framework to guide funding institutions and individual donors as they respond to the rise of fascism. As philanthropy continues to grapple with how best to support and sustain movement work, we want to uplift the wisdom in the Courageous Giving Framework. This progressive philanthropic strategy was created to help donors and funders ensure that they are working in alignment with social justice movements to build a just, multiracial, democracy. #internationalwomensday2024 IWD. 08/03/24 It is important that society take measures to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding. #iwd2024 gives us a day to raise awareness, celebrate women, reflect on the progression made but also campaign for the change still needed. 'Women supporting women' was established in 2018 at the princes trust, to help young women who face disadvantage and adversity to transform their lives. A common question on IWD is, which women have inspired you the most? Of course, my daughter, sisters, Nieces, Mum and Nans but if I was to pick one notable public figure it would be Princess Diana. Why? At one point in her life, Princess Diana was supporting over 100 charities. She often utilized the media frenzy surrounding her own personal life to raise awareness and shine a light on a number of progressive humanitarian causes. After her passing, many of these charities suffered a shortfall in funding, showing just how much of a difference, an impact one woman can make. Princess Diana once said, 'Nothing brings me more happiness than to help the most vulnerable people in society. It is a goal and essential part of my life- a kind of destiny.
